Pros

Pay, paid time off and the tools are above average

Cons

-Management nightmare with zero real support from home office in Germany to non-management employees in the U.S. -Policy and procedure always trumps customer service. -Nepotism -People with the least skills but loudest voice gets favoritism -Not a single manager comes from a major tooling distributor and only want employees with experience to "keep your head down" and "do as you're told". -Home office in Germany is not willing to do things or make changes to compete with local, U.S. suppliers. -Highly outdated and overly complicated database/order entry -Compared to other competitors, Hoffmann is much slower, a lot more expensive for similar items and places little value on it's customer's concerns putting stress on sales staff. -Anyone in sales will be treated as a 2nd class citizen behind any other department and virtually have zero voice. -It's more important to figure out who's fault things are first than finding ways to hurry and fix issues for the customer.

Pros

Stable and professional company, the HQ is a great motivator and you can feel that the company goes in the right direction

Cons

- Spanish management is very poor, running a start-up development and not thinking in the company as a big corporation. - No change over all the years I was working in the company, people don't get promoted, the local CEO is afraid of losing his power. Travelling to the HQ was like going to a whole different company. - People are nice but there is no HR and the very few personal strategies don't focus on the workers, only on the customers. Wrong people are working in the wrong place and the atmosphere in the company has become very bad over the years. - There is a complete lack of company benefits and not only that, it has become worse over the years since the only goal of the management is to upgrade customer care service aggravating worker's condition. This reality will be masked very well during the interviews though. - You will be lucky if you are not willing to have any babies during your working time at the company, management will only try to make your life harder. - Any effort you make during your working period will be partly rewarded, but don't expect any single type of negotiation or counter-offer if you decide to leave the company: management doesn't care about people leaving the company, you are just labour for him. - Should you ask for a reorganisation of your working hours due to your personal situation, or ask for a few hours to take care of a personal issue, they will tell you to discuss the situation with your colleagues and tell them to work the hours you won't be at the office, which causes a lot of damage to the relation with your co-workers. - Managements leitmotiv was "you are all the same". You will be treated as a group, never as an individual person. That means, no matter if you are an intern, a 20-year-experienced worker, a boss or a half-time worker, your conditions will depend on what the others have.
