Pros

-nice office and downtown location. -good colleagues and manager. -company culture can be good depending on the manager you get. -senior management has a clear plan in terms of where the company is going, they don't know what to do with their people though. -good company events. -diverse and inclusive company.

Cons

-you will have to take on other people's jobs and do yours at the same time too. -promotions will be given to favorites (qualifications are not considered much). -salary will not increase by much at all. -senior management doesn't know how to retain employees. They get fed up and leave elsewhere for a higher pay. This is terrible because they take the inhouse knowledge and expertise they have with them and other team members are left to pick up the pieces. -terrible work life balance.

Pros

Working in/closely with the IT department means you'll be in close contact with the senior management group at all times--full of highly mentoring individuals that truly care about their employees and are invested in them. The CIO is a great leader and will definitely take the time to talk to you. Executives are all open to new and big ideas and will take the time to chat about anything you're interested in.

Cons

Outside of the IT/PMO departments, things can be a nightmare in terms of being able to effectively work with cross-functional teams. Staff in Underwriting, Risk Management, and so forth seem to blow off most of what IT or the PMO is doing. You will have lots of no-shows to your meetings and last-minute rescheduling or cancellations. This is just an issue with antiquated company culture that is targeted for change as per the new CEO though.

Pros

fair compensation. bonus almost every year. volunteer events every month

Cons

such an unorganized organization. mainly powerful white men in charged. too many stressed and overworked. many cry in the washroom because of work-load.
