Pros

Fellow co-workers (that are somewhat equal to you in job responsibilities). Very little competition among colleagues. Fair work-life balance, depending on your position.

Cons

A company-initiated fear for all employees that they will or can be fired at any moment (especially due to the number of people fired on any given day). Lack of caring and sympathy needed among employees and leadership for work in homeless services. Very poor salaries and benefits, particularly for a non-profit organization. On that note, salary and wealth distribution is completely skewed - a coordinator who makes $30k, compared to his or her supervisor who makes $80 or $90k? Or a CEO who makes $450k? (Check the 990 of the organization on GuideStar for confirmation) Little room for growth and advancement, including raises (employees who have been with the organization for 5 years and haven't had a raise in 3 years is not uncommon at Homes for the Homeless) Favoritism runs abound here. Very little trust from management towards its employees.
