Where do I start? Management is non-existent at Homestead. Your efforts will be met with criticism. You will be drained by the end of your short shift, and you will go home covered in trash juice. You will sit in the sun, even on your break. Except, you never get a break. Because if anyone sees you sitting at the guard table, immediately you are deemed useless, lazy, and not doing your job (since we are supposed to be cleaning every moment that we are not on stand). There is a camera focused on the guard table to make sure you do not get a break. You want a raise? Forget about it, they can't afford you. You want a properly staffed shift? Nope, they can't afford that either. You will be given 0 supplies, 0 guidance, and 0 oversight but you are soley responsible for everything that goes wrong. Management will yell at you, members will yell at you, other departments will yell at you, and you will be children's babysitters all summer. The current management picks favorites so make sure you get on his good side, or else he will deny your punch requests! The best part is you can't park on property- you have to walk 15 minutes to the country club! Remember that this is unpaid, in the summer sun. The members consist of wealthy folk who raise children who don't know how to clean up after themselves, so get ready to be a busboy too. You'll also need to get on your hands and knees to scrub baked-on messes on the concrete. Also, you may get injured on this job because there is no oversight. Do not agree to carry heavy equipment by yourself, do not pour in chemicals without protection; you have to stand up for yourself. You will have to advocate for your own safety and legal protection. This place is a walking, talking lawsuit just waiting to happen so you must look out for yourself. Besides that, nearly all of the guards don't enforce rules. If you try to make change, you will be the only one doing so. There is no HR department. So good luck!
