Pros

You learn a lot in a very short period of time. You get to meet smart, and dedicated people and you are helping people in the long run.

Cons

Terrible management. Inexperienced, and unprofessional. They don't offer any growth, and very little is done to work on employee well being. Be expected to work insane hours, and get very little thanks or recognition for good work. You never feel valued or trusted in your role, and management offers very little support. You are not a human being at Hometeam, you are expected to be a machine.

Pros

Most of the people I worked with were some of the most passionate and hardworking people that I know. However, since I left last year, I heard that they hired quite a few people who manipulate and sometimes blackmail their direct reports, so I can't speak for their current employee pool.

Cons

When we were hired, we were quite misled as to what working there would be like. We were not given the tools that we needed to do our jobs, and then yelled at for not being able to do those jobs well. We were expected to know how to do everything and do it perfectly, and if we didn't, we got yelled at. We were all extremely stressed out and unhappy, often working long, grueling hours with very little reward. The CEO does not practice what he preaches- he tells a very nice story about his motivation for starting the company, but we found out soon enough that he's just in it for money. In the end, he doesn't care about any of his staff (that goes for both the office team and the caregivers). He has a very fixed mindset, and if you disagree with him, you're pretty much a goner. He's driven out everyone who was actually good at that company, and who actually cared about the mission. DO NOT ACCEPT A JOB HERE. You will regret it.

Pros

Former GM, manager and supervisor level teammates were the heart and soul of this company. They managed the customers, managed the caregivers and literally did whatever it took to ensure the company was running smoothly on the day to day. Great group of individuals that gravitated towards the company working in the trenches each day -- high EQ's, high level of interest for turning around the quality of home-care in general and helping to make sure older adults live the best possible last days. As well as doing whatever it takes to empower and improve the lives of caregivers for the future. Hometeam had a nice office space in a great neighborhood (Flatiron), everyone receives a Macbook upon starting the company -- decent benefits and compensation for a small, scrappy start-up trying to make its way.

Cons

Weakest leadership team I've ever worked for. CEO and COO have absolutely no idea what they are doing -- both are in way over their heads. Both floated 10,000 feet about the rest of the team offering limited to no direction and frankly were never really around to help roll-up their sleeves when they were needed the most. Even after adding additional C-level marketing and sales executive support -- those execs followed the same type of suit and avoided the trenches at all costs, both at the customers and the caregivers expense. They placed all of the pressure and day to day management on the former GM -- who did the very best he could carrying the team and the company on the day to day. This led to his eventual departure and soon there after multiple high-quality teammates moving away from the company all together. Things started off with tons of optimism and like many other startups failed quickly due to the lack of leadership from the C-suite and a missing mission and company direction. I would avoid this company until they hire seasoned leadership and replace the CEO with someone who actually understands the healthcare space and how to manage and support a growing team.
