Pros

As an educator, you are under the impression you will teach for 20 minutes, 1:1 and be compensated your rate of pay. It is an illusion.

Cons

As an educator, you are paid per minute. Technically it will take you teaching three classes to attain the hourly rate of pay you are given. With many years of teaching remotely, with various companies; teachers being compensated per minute is uncommon. There are many companies teaching English/ promoting literacy and helping to close the reading gap. Put your passion for facilitating learning into a company that is transparent and supportive of all concerns an employee has.

Pros

Part time work only available

Cons

Paid $18 and hour, lessons are 20 minutes = $6 per session. Contract = no benefits Students are only with the tutor for 5 weeks. No sense of community in the organization. Top heavy = many highly paid in admin, with benefits Holidays, both U.S. & Canada plus Summers = no work Too few students scheduled to benefit financially. A tutor doesn't ever meet, (virtually), any admin staff.

Pros

The product/app is actually a good idea.

Cons

- Terrible communication between different levels of management - Too many big egos at play pretending to know things without actually knowing them - Manual and outdated tech stack - Blind points among the founding team causes them to get defensive about their actions even when asked simple questions by employees - Little to no training provided followed by unrealistic expectations with the resources employees are armed with - Low pay within the ed-tech industry
