Pros

New office space. No more downtown traffic. Most of the people who work here are just starting out. It's nice to be amongst my peers.

Cons

Management undermines employees. Clients are spoken poorly of. Frustrations are taken out on the least deserving. We've started building Squarespace sites that take 2 hours to put together and are charging clients $5k minimum. We aren't allowed to do any customization because that would cut into profits. The company is struggling so often times checks will bounce. I'm about to quit and I fully expect to be spoken poorly of when I'm gone.

Pros

No dress code. Great location in downtown Nashville. Coffee shop up front. Fun young professionals in their 20s and 30s.

Cons

I’m not sure where to begin. The worst reviews here are an accurate overview of my experience. Let me begin by saying I’m not a disgruntled employee. I’m not writing this to bash the company or to be mean-spirited. I’m writing this for the younger version of me. There is someone out there that is thinking about applying to work here. Don’t. Trust me. Trust the other people that have left bad reviews. The 5-star reviews were probably left by management. I would bet money on it. There are many, many problems with Horton Group but the biggest problem stems from this: the company clearly does not know what to do for its customers and does not listen to what their customers are saying. Some of management and the sales team will slide things into proposals even if the customer does not need or want it or can afford it. Things are promised to clients that are impossible to deliver, then the hammer comes down on you when the work isn't delivered. There’s no training or style guide or onboarding process when you’re hired. You make up your job as you go. You can even make up your job title no matter what you interviewed for. Then you’ll get yelled at if you do something “wrong.” Don’t know how to do something? You will be told to Google your question and to learn how to do it yourself. The company charges clients thousands of dollars then hires fresh college grads to do billable client work. There were multiple thousand-dollar-projects I worked on where we just made stuff up as we went (or gave billable work to an intern working for free) and still charged the client. Not very ethical to me. On multiple occasions I saw the boss bark at coworkers like a dog. It’s common for people to cry in the office or during their lunch break. It used to happen weekly, but not so often now. The work environment is emotionally, verbally and psychologically abusive. You can’t report anything to HR or any management because everyone is scared to speak out against the boss. Nothing is kept secret except for our mutual frustration of clients. Coworkers and management literally complain and rant and hate on almost every client. Then everyone acts all surprised whenever a client drops lol.
