Pros
Some of the individuals I worked with were talented and are now life friends. We had the opportunity to meet fantastic and aspiring individuals from the non-profit and private sectors. Management attempted to create a "silicone valley" feel in the middle of Geneva, with an informal office setting. Experienced gained in event and relationship management. If you are seeking a startup atmosphere for a short period this works, however, it will not advance you in your overall career objectives.
Cons
There is no separation between professional and private life. Management expected their employees to live and breath "Horyou". The hours did not reflect the salary and there is no compensation for extra hours. In addition, the organisational structure is non-existence and office politics became a type of high school drama. Lack of Managerial guidance and presence. The majority of employees were fresh graduates. There was a lack of senior management to guide and mentor. The "go for it" attitude is problematic when there was a lack of defined objectives, therefore, the moral and motivation became low. People were coming to the office out of obligation versus the inspiration to work. Lack of clear and transparent communication. Even though they provide the opportunity to be creative, there is no guidelines or an infrastructure for employees to gain essential skills and knowledge to transmit to other opportunities and advance their career. Lack of initiatives for self-growth.
