Pros

no pros they buy city publications just to lay off existing staff and turn to sloppy ai generated articles and overworking remaining staff— I wonder how long they've been trying to monopolize?

Cons

they bought my publication and lied about their plans before laying us all off to use AI to write our publication. after reading about other recent layoffs in other markets, it sounds like this is common. they mislead me about how much severance I would be getting and then told the unemployment office a totally different number than what was given

Pros

Pros: You’ll quickly learn how much work one person can absorb after management lets people go and dumps their responsibilities on whoever is left. The low pay paired with long hours teaches you how to survive on stress instead of compensation. The dull, corporate building perfectly reflects the lack of creativity and inspiration inside—soulless and uninspiring. Upper Management provides a clear lesson in how power can be misused. “Bonuses” technically exist—if you count occasional gift cards from companies the sales team works with. Plenty of time to reflect on your career choices : )

Cons

Cons: Employees are not valued or supported. Upper Management is completely out of touch and makes no effort. Human Resources exists to protect the company, not the people. HR works to keep employees in check rather than advocate for them. There are no real bonuses, profit sharing, or meaningful incentives—only sporadic gift cards tied to sales partners, which feel more insulting than rewarding. Heavy reliance on unpaid interns, who are lured in with promises of experience and then exploited like full-time staff. The workplace is emotionally draining and physically uninspiring—sterile, corporate, and completely void of creativity despite claiming to be a media company. Employees are taken advantage of, overworked, and expected to be grateful for it. Raises, growth opportunities, and recognition are nonexistent. Good luck trying to get any computer equipment or support from IT Department without a million questions. It's just a toxic work environment.
