      Giving Government Workers A Bad Name

      Pros

      There is lots of name recognition to be able to help clients. The employees that are there to work are able to do great things.

      Cons

      The MAJORITY of worker SLACK and DO NOT care about clients or even hitting the numbers they need to achieve to keep grants running. There are LOTS of family/friend relationships that come BEFORE the clients.

      Pros

      Absolutely nothing except if you like to sit around and do nothing.

      Cons

      Very bureaucratic, not a lot of room for professional growth unless you know the right people. Very poor management and senior leadership, overall, is not open and communicative with staff. The salary is also terrible with not a lot of room for negotiations.

      Pros

      Get your experience and leave. After working at the health department for a few years, I was sick of the environment and had to leave. However, the health department provided me the experience I needed to move on, and for that, I am grateful. Most of the people are nice, though some people shouldn't even be there, but the lax culture allows them to linger around.

      Cons

      -Gossipy environment -Employees who consistently fail to do their job are not fired -It's a government job so the pay is below average -Overall, little diversity, though some floors are more diverse than others
