Pros

The Rodeo has an undeniable impact on the Houston community at large and you get to be a part of that.

Cons

Lisa Gagnon, the Executive Director of Marketing, is a toxic bully. Everyone who works with her will admit it to you in due time. The emotional health of the marketing department is in bad shape due to toxic work environment she creates. More than a handful of staff have complained to HR about the toxic work environment. Unfortunately, HR will turn right around and tell Lisa Gagnon what you've said, in turn making your life worse. I wish I could say that if you worked in different department then this is a good job. Unfortunately the company is so small that working in another department won’t spare you. She plays the corporate game like Machiavelli's protégé. She has groomed HR and the CEO such that they won’t make a change. Spare yourself the pain of figuring this out for yourself.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are sorry your experience as an employee has been unfavorable. Each year, we participate in the Houston Chronicle’s Top Workplace, in which confidential employee surveys are conducted by a third-party vendor, Energage. We use this feedback to identify any areas in which we can make improvements. Prior to your posting, no complaints regarding Ms. Gagnon had been received via the survey, by HR or by our CEO. Again, we appreciate your feedback and will to continue to make the work experience as favorable as possible for all employees.

Pros

Giving back to your community, helping to contribute to the scholarship program, meeting and working with the volunteers.

Cons

This is the most toxic work environment I have ever experienced. The entire organization is beholden to an Executive Committee who may at one time been captains of industry, but are now nothing more than drunk, bigoted, old white men desperately trying to hold on to the past. These men represent the worst in people. They drink to excess, they womanize, they make decisions based on race. At a senior level on staff there are some good eggs, however, the true CEO of the organization is the CFO. A morally bankrupt individual that will kiss your cheek while putting a knife in your back. The toxic environment will never be able to heal until she is ousted from the organization. The rest of the staff always operate under the fear that they will fall under the scrutiny of the CFO. There is no rhyme or reason as to who might be next on her hit list. This creates an environment of toxic competition, siloing, and non-collaboration.

Work Life Balance for 9 months every year is excellent

Cons

The first quarter of every year, you will earn the "life" portion of your work life balance.
