This is the most unprofessional organization I've ever seen. The people who are supposed to be respectful leaders are, in fact, children. Nobody gets along with anyone and if you're unwilling to turn a blind eye to the poor choices they make and the way in which they treat their employees, you will not last. While employees actually save lives, their "leaders" take the credit and will find any reason to fire someone. They worship their volunteers because they don't have to pay them. There's no zero tolerance policy so, yes, some people show up drunk, or worse. In order to save a few bucks in insurance costs, they bribe their employees with iPads to keep them from reporting injuries. There is absolutely zero respect for anyone there. Ironically, employees are treated like caged animals and work horses... with next to zero benefits. I left the SPCA because by staying, I was condoning the behavior, so I went and got a new job. They'll say I'm a disgruntled ex-employee, but I'm far from disgruntled. I'm just very disappointed. If the board of directors is unaware of how miserable this place is, I implore them to take a good hard look at who (within the organization) they choose to support. And if they know, and if they're doing anything about it, well that just goes to show how bad it is.
