Pros

-Get to support an arts organization -Free concert tickets -Extra days off in the summer -Quiet office setting -Pay was a little low but not bad for a nonprofit -The work could be fun and engaging at times

Cons

-Toxic atmosphere in Marketing department -90% staff turnover rate in department in less than 2 years -Promotions and management structure based on personal friendships instead of qualifications -Hidden agendas -No communication of strategy or vision -No career development or room for growth -No open door policy or any way of expressing concerns without fear of retaliation -Let ‘em leave attitude to staff turnover

Pros

The staff and musicians make the Symphony great. It’s a cool place to work with decent benefits.

Cons

There are expectations to attend events and concerts outside of regular office hours. Although comp time is said to be available, there is no follow through so you’ll be working well beyond 40 hours.
