I'm struggling to think of a pro here.

Pros

Seriously, it is an awful company.

Cons

I could go on all day. They punish you for using your PTO. Being paid on time is the outlier. The owner runs payroll, and he can't be bothered to do it when he's supposed to. He simply doesn't care. And if he's on vacation when it's time to do it, you don't get paid, sometimes up to 6 days after you're supposed to. Management will. not. listen to any advice or ideas you have to solve a problem. Then, when everything inevitably goes wrong, they'll use your initial ideas as though they were their own and you will receive no credit. If middle management is causing slow down in the warehouse, and you go to someone higher up to find a solution, you will be punished and absolutely nothing will change. There's nepotism, and higher up's girlfriends will get hired and will get promoted over you in half the time you've been there. People have started physical altercations and used racial slurs, and are still there. They will not have your back. One hispanic delivery driver was verbally accosted by a customer, being called derogatory remarks. The CEO's response? Making everyone in the warehouse do another background check. They consider snacks a "perk", and when you complain about not getting paid, etc., they'll use the snacks to lord over you as a way to get you to stop complaining. We're talking crackers and lunch meats here. And the dichotomy of how the warehouse is treated vs. the retail store sales people is absurd. The sales people are treated to lunches, to dinners, given presents, raises, etc. The people in the warehouse are treated terribly, and do 3x the work. Bottom line is this: this place is riding a bubble. Once it bursts, they've done nothing to prepare themselves for it, because they honestly don't seem to have any idea what they're doing. It's going to get bloody, and they have no sense of loyalty, so they're going to lay off anything and anyone to stop the bleeding. I would absolutely pass.

Pros

There's a lot of freedom here depending on your department, and managers usually want to be liked, so they are willing to agree to many requests, and are fairly lenient on things like asking for last minute half days or if you aren't feeling well, letting you go home. They also work hard at making sure the kitchens are well stocked with healthier snacks and items to make lunch so you don't have to leave or spend money on restaurants. And they do a very good job of defending their employees publicly when a customer is clearly in the wrong. There is a lot of creativity and ambition in this company, and the coworkers I had were awesome. I made a lot of fantastic friends while I worked there. It can be a very comfortable place to find a home in, so there are many office employees there with a long work history with the company. The family atmosphere is not an exaggeration. Coworkers get together a lot to see movies, karaoke, or do yoga. Sometimes runs are sponsored by the company, and there are many fun events planned quarterly and for holidays on and off site, most of them family friendly and children are welcome to join their parents.

Cons

Managers want to be liked, so they can be a little too lenient. There seems to be an attitude of letting employees handle issues themselves, or appointing someone as a supervisor (in title only) and making them handle it, which isn't the best way to actually lead teams of people. And favoritism leads to resentment. As mentioned in previous reviews, the fear of the CEO is a real thing and a problem. It doesn't matter how much of an expert you are in your field, you could have multiple degrees and/or certifications, it will not matter. You will be spending your time trying to talk him into things that need to be done and convincing him they are his ideas. There are consequences for not agreeing. Tasks are also created and divvied out by the seat of the pants. Sometimes tasks are given to multiple people, and none of those people will be told others are working on it. Other times, a project will be created as priority 1, dropped in someone's lap (usually content), and then upper management will forget it existed, or change their mind on needing it done. Gossip is a real problem, and many times, negative habits can be encouraged if a person high enough on the food chain finds it funny, entertaining, or validating for their own behavior. Pranks can often get out of hand, depending on the site you're at, and sometimes instigated by supervisors. A normal warehouse worker will also not find the pay competitive at all compared to many other warehouse jobs in the area, and will readily be taken advantage of depending on their background circumstances and desperation. Some have even had to resort to sneaking home food from the kitchens because they can't afford to feed their family otherwise. And the teams that unload supply trucks do not have the benefit of AC in the middle of a Texas summer while manually stacking pallets in the warehouses. Despite the advertising, only 1 warehouse has AC.

Pros

The owner has hired mainly young and talented employees in their corporate office with high career growth potential. A growing company like this should have a bright future with strong employee retention.

Cons

The owner refuses to relinquish any power or control. He does not communicate clearly with his employees and negates any opportunity for growth and empowerment. He expects all levels of employees to be factory-line assembly workers who does exactly what he wants, when he wants. Simple as that. This is a start-up company, not a factory in the 19th century.
