Pros

Decent place to get a foot in the door in the international development world.

Cons

The CEO appears to make very little effort to lead the company, he often comes in at the final hour upset because everything is in shambles. They ask for input from employees and say it is considered, but continue to make changes that a majority of employees do not agree with. Technology is lacking and makes it difficult to complete tasks efficiently.

Pros

People are generally friendly and conversational if you make an effort to know them and ask questions. It’s somewhat laidback and my higher-ups were usually understanding and sympathetic to my concerns, but didn’t take much action. The benefits aren’t bad and improved while I was there.

Cons

Not much work to do for many junior staff, even if you take initiative. The company is no longer competitive as a large business, with ISPI being the only successful department recently. Unclear communications, too many meetings, and recently a ton of staff turnover. Everyone has to come to the office on Thursdays just to take meetings remotely at their desk because half the staff go to the other office. Salaries for junior staff with an MA are terrible for the DC area. It seems that it’s a better place to work in a management role and they don’t care much for junior staff.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences during your time at IBTCI. We are glad to hear that you found our team friendly and supportive, and that you appreciated the benefits offered. We want to clarify that IBTCI embraces a hybrid remote work schedule, with most days being work-from-home, which is in line with best practices and federal government standards. This flexibility allows our employees to balance work and personal life effectively while maintaining productivity. We strive for clear and effective communication and structure our meetings to be purposeful and efficient. We also maintain a stable workforce and actively work to retain talent by providing a supportive and engaging work environment. While transitions are natural in any organization, we are committed to ensuring a smooth and positive experience for all employees. As for salaries, we conduct regular market reviews to ensure our compensation is competitive, and we strive to offer fair and attractive compensation packages. We believe in the potential of our employees and are committed to fostering an environment where everyone can grow and contribute to our success. Best wishes in your future endeavors. Regards, Human Resources
