Incompetent Management

Pros

Majority of employees are diligent and competent in their respective department. Company is small so there is opportunity to learn since you can see how things run.

Cons

Management is incompetent, divisive, and unprofessional. Management over-delegates to already overworked employees, forcing all to take on multiple roles, while Managers leave early, have special work hours, or are allowed to work from home. Employees are encouraged to do more and have a "do whatever is necessary" attitude. During holidays or heavy sales, everyone is expected to be trained and work in shipping department as well as meeting own deadlines. CEO and certain managers are exempt. (Even though ALL are told no one is exempt) Loud screaming matches in both English and Russian can be heard by the CEO and managers on a weekly basis in all corners of the company. CEO is not invested in the financial well being of the company or its employees. He recites at company meetings that all employees are disposable. He also hangs a poster of a quote on the wall that suggests that employees leave if they don't the way things are. He is ill equipped to be a CEO and hires and fires on whim. Marketing leadership is not experienced in e-commerce or the plus market. There have been frequent instances of projects that require feedback from leadership for which she is unresponsive when input is required then when it is much too late, she will send vague feedback without specific direction when it is too late to include. This creates an environment where employees are forced to work late nights without a clear sense of what they are working towards. Graphic designers cannot stand the directionless approach and flee as soon as they find new opportunities. Operational leadership is passive aggressive and thrives on chaos at the company. Employees are expected to take on extra duties and tasks when jobs "dissolve" but there is no compensation or perk for doing this. There is firm reluctance to initiate performance reviews. No employee actually receives their promised performance review; therefore, no one actually achieves a deserved or promised wage increase. Employees have to chase down and email over and over again to remind of overdue reviews. If lucky, three months from the actually review date, you will get a quick meeting that involves a huge let down and an insulting little to no pay increase. Design leadership micro-manages and creates hostile environment for employees and peers. She is a self proclaimed "expert at everything" who thinks she can do everyone's job better and let's them all know that, making it utterly unbearable to work with her. Production Management is inept. Incapable of simple tasks regarding organization, managing production and its employees. This department constantly makes costly mistakes to the company. Turnover rate is so high that tasks from people fired/resigned are delegated to employees that are still around. More tasks, hats, and responsibilities with no perks or wage increase. Not one person on the management team uplifts, helps or provides tools necessary to accomplish projects assigned. There are no incentives for employees nor are there words of acknowledgement. Management creates an unbearable environment that is toxic and feels much like modern day slavery. Human Resources department does not exist at Igigi. Employees are left defenseless and management fearlessly reigns.

Don't recommend for long term

Pros

Everything is done locally, so you're able to see first hand how the process of design and manufacturing works. It's also a very small company, so your input can be heard easily.

Cons

Management tends to not be supportive of their employees or provide them with the tools and resources for them to successfully do their job or advance in their career. Additionally, there is not a Human Resource department in this organization so sensitive matters, concerns or logistical issues aren't handled properly if handled at all. All of this lends itself to a hostile environment where employees are often frustrated and are unable to stay long term with this company

Pros

Company is great at making you feel like everyday is bootcamp, but with little reward, other than self-fulfillment and pride of overcoming modern day "slavery". Best pro of this company is the talented and hardworking employees that they were lucky to employ.

Cons

- Led by unsupportive and unqualified upper management - Racism and prejudice exists - High, unrealistic expectations of job role - Criticized for performance done RIGHT and wrong - No advancement in the company - Below industry salary average - Openly believes all employees are dispensable and replaceable
