Employment Training Specialist for 2+ years
Pros
Most of the people who work for this company are very kind and have positive social interactions while at work. For the Work and Life Skills department, I have never been rejected for taking time off so long as I put it in a few months/weeks in advance (depending on time of year). Bosses are all very open and sympathetic to workplace issues. Compensated for miles driven.
Cons
There can be a lot of paperwork, depending on who you're working with. The other ETSs can be complacent and not try very hard to actually improve the lives of their participants, which can be difficult to work with. This job obviously takes a lot of heart and a LOT of patience and inter-personal communication skills. Because the bosses are so busy, it can be difficult to pin them down for a meeting or request. Pay scale mobility is virtually nonexistent unless you get promoted.
