A joke in the industry

Pros

Free products and lower level employees are nice

Cons

This place prides itself on being a woman-owned business yet treats the younger women in the office like trash. I have never in my life witnessed grown women act like straight up bullies, with the word bully being an understatement. They will berate you, talk down to you, talk behind your back, stir up drama any which way they can and ultimately, get you fired for no reason. I do know that most of the vile women that were guilty of this are no longer there but I'm sure they found replicates (and I feel bad for people working under these women elsewhere). When you go on job interviews after working here, no one you meet will have heard of the company and the ones that have, have nothing nice to say about it. Working here does absolutely nothing for your resume. There is zero work life balance - you are expected to work 14+ hr days and if you leave on time or before your boss says you can, you're shamed. Do not believe a single positive review that is said about this place - the company and higher ups are all trash.

Thank you for your review of the agency. I am so sorry to hear that this was your experience. It’s hard to believe that someone could be this unhappy under our roof, yet never brought it to my attention. I am glad to hear that the people who made you so upset are no longer here. We pride ourselves on being a caring, supportive environment and helping people grow. We do not tolerate abusive personalities. Like all others in the industry, we terminate for cause/poor performance – there is no such thing as “getting fired for no reason.” Employees are also given ample opportunities to receive constructive feedback, which is provided both in writing and through regular check-ins/reviews in hopes that they will be able to course correct and perform to their team’s expectations. As for hours, in the PR industry you do sometimes have to work long hours to meet client and media needs (for example: leading up to a big press event or an important, time sensitive launch), but comp time is always given in those instances and we have generous PTO policies and Summer Fridays too. We are not clock watchers and we pay overtime to eligible employees. People just need to get their work done. As for saying we are trash and we are a joke, that is just unkind and unprofessional. I do hope that Glass Door will consider removing your post because if you actually worked at INK & ROSES you signed Clause 8 of our employment agreement, which is a non-disparagement clause. Your review is both disparaging and untrue!

Pros

You get some menial task work, work for interesting clients. Really small office. Sometimes they let you go to cool places and take pictures for them.

Cons

I was not treated well. Environment was toxic and had almost no interaction with upper level management- they treated me like I didn't exist. Was often not in the loop of things and was never told what expectations they would have for me, so often I was left in the dark. Basically interns just help their actual employees do the work they don't have time to do.

Thank you for this guidance. We will try to do a better job at setting measurable goals for our interns. It is sad that you did not get much out of your time with us. Being an intern at INK & ROSES is an opportunity to do hands-on work, especially with our employees. Based on the team structures, our interns always work most closely with our junior staff. This is by design as our hope is for our interns to hone in on the skills they’ll likely need for their first full-time positions after graduation. The best way to do that, and really get an idea of what the job entails, is by directly supporting our ACs and AAEs. This is also why many of our interns become full time employees. They are the ones who did great work during their internship.

Secured some promising clients, not for extensive periods of time.

Cons

The most toxic work environment I have ever seen.

Thank you for your review of the agency. I really do not think we would have asked you several times to write a review if we thought you had such a bad experience? Sorry to hear. We would have loved to know about your experience and would have taken actions to make it better. Focusing on our top talent and our clients is always a priority so we are glad you could mention it. We also agree that keeping familial problems out of the office is sound advice. With two sisters working together I am sure you witnessed something and for that we are sorry. We are human, but this is not the current scenario and we love each other a lot, so future employees should never fear.
