Pros

If you are lucky you can have the chance to travel

Cons

HR lies about promotion and salary In 5+yrs I manage to "promote" from Junior programmer to Senior programmer No salary increase in 5+yrs Management is very bad, they rely on consultants (mainly Accenture) with no experience to manage projects and people that have the knowledge are treated very badly. Teams are completely burnout, resulting on people don't wanting to work. If there is a challenge they just fight to not do it and try other team to address the issue. There is no sharing of information across teams.

Thank you for giving your time to give us feedback. We are working hard in the UK to improve our employee experience, for example we are driving our permanent recruitment now instead of relying on contractors so heavily. I am not sure what happened in your circumstance in relation to your salary increase but I do know that every year there is always a salary review. The only time we would not give someone an increase would be if they were a poor performer or if they were already paid above our salary guides which are market data driven and regularly reviewed. We know that our promotion process needs to be more dynamic and for the past two years have had a structured process in place for managers to put forward their nominations and they can also do this on a case by case basis if the demand is there. We have our Simple, Personal and Fair behaviours that we are encouraging everyone to live by and there are many avenues for people to speak out if they think they are being treated unfairly.

Terrible Place to Work

Pros

There are still some great people working there - mainly those remaining from the purchasing of other banks.

Cons

The parent company, Santander, does everything possible to prevent work from getting done. Simple tasks take an exorbitant amount of effort. Software is developed using archaic "technology" called "BankSphere", a bizarre and terribly designed development framework built by the company that takes every step of the software development process and makes it more difficult than you can possibly imagine. Management has no clue how to manage a company, doesn't listen to employees, and constantly make decisions that hurt everyone. Following extremely complicated and ever-changing processes takes precedence over productivity, security, customer experience and the law. The company doesn't value you or your time; you will be expected to work 60+ hour weeks, expected to be available 24/7 and have to fight tooth and nail for your personal time, and they will ignore all of your knowledge and expertise while doing so. You will not advance unless you are a Spanish Male. Women are relegated to project management / secretary work and looking pretty.

Pros

Competitive pay and benefits; international flavor - get to work from peope all around the globe; good opportunity to learn Spanish

Cons

Complete lack of strategy (three CEO's in a year); extremely disfunctional; very hierarchical; not uncommon for somebody in higher position not even say hello to lower level colleagues; all senior management positions at Isban US are taken by Spanish males, some barely speaking any English; no accountability with simplest things taking forever to complete. Long hours are expected, depending on the job people also work weekends and holidays if required. Outdated technology, extremely dissatisfied busienss customers - beyond repair; the org climate filled with a lot of frustration and negitivity. No advancement opportunities; the company is downsizing.
