– Some toxic managers that totally control your career progression (promotions/raises/technical exposure). – No solid evaluation criteria across the company, and that lets managers take critical decisions (in appraisal, promotions) based on his/her own opinion. – Some projects offer nearly no learning opportunities, and you can get assigned to them for a long time. – Low salaries compared to the market. – Job insecurity due to the company's financial conditions — they can decide not to renew your contract. – Long tenure (8+ years) doesn't protect employees from abrupt non-renewal — notice as short as 40 days is possible with performance issues cited that were never raised in previous year's appraisal or formal warnings, following months of being left idle with no project assigned.
