Pros

- IZEA has managed to hire some truly excellent people at the company. When it comes to non-executive folks, its hands down the best part about working here. - There are a couple of executives around that are pretty nice and great sources of knowledge - Healthcare, 401k, Education Budget are excellent - Because the product changes so much, Engineering and Account Management both get the chance to have a significant impact on how the product is developed - In some cases, pay could be above market if you have the right skill set - Occasionally, some fun benefits and events come along.

Cons

- Our desire to be on the NASDAQ for personal over business reasons is absolutely killing us. Its readily apparent that our company product, vision, and profitability isn't where it should be to perform properly on the exchange - This year was supposedly be a big year for developing IZEA's product. However, a dip in stock has absolutely wrecked those hopes and the Engineering team is becoming increasingly unstable. This could spell disaster for the rest of the company. We need to iterate properly to hit the sales goals we set. - Low client retention. Its such a burden to try to continuously do business with the same client. Many of our interactions are one-time affairs. - There's a terrible culture of shorting employees on raises going on right now. IZEA waits until the leverage for raises diminishes and then undercuts the employees on the raise. Its dirty and out of character for what the company stands for. - Pay really isn't that competitive for most. - Even though a review system was established this year, is yet to occur this year. This is disappointing. Mainly because people have to threaten to leave in order to get a raise. - The Company Cruise is a ridiculous waste of company money. Its not fun and there's no option to bring your family along. Its surprisingly anti-family for a company that's very family-centric

Pros

Young, fun, laid back, wework building, social media

Cons

EVERYTHING ELSE. The training is nonexistent and no one is there to help you. I never felt like I was set up for success. There is a small group of VERY successful sales people and the rest are treated like garbage and paid below the standard of living. When 13 people were let go due to budget cuts/board decisions, they decided about two weeks later to hire another team member in another department. I can’t stress enough how much I am disappointed with this company.

Pros

- Fun culture - Work with great people - Open office environment

Cons

It is interesting to note that my last review which was negatively skewed was published and then removed. Looks like IZEA is trying to keep only the most positive available to boost their score. - Low pay, there are instances where lower level staff will take up a second job in order to survive. - Raises are few and far between, most raise requests are rejected even though you are promised "next time" over and over again. The higher level staff though are swimming in $$$. - As a result, within the last 6 months, an overwhelming number of employees have quit and moved on to much better paying jobs. - Lots of confusion about what the company actually does - are we a tech company or are we the leaders in social media marketing? Figure it out and stick with it. - Work life balance is poor, especially for the Campaign Management team. Lots of us were putting in late night and weekend hours in order to make our campaigns work and keep our clients happy. The pay doesn't justify these additional hours. - Lots of negative talk around the office: either about additional hours that need to be put in, hard work that goes unnoticed, people talking about applying for new jobs, lots of catty/gossip behavior from the youngly-skewed employees, etc. - Lack of management and direction within HQ, no accountability or support. Lots of the senior team works remote which makes no sense. IZEA may look pretty from the outside, social events, company cruises, colorful office, etc, but it's all an optical illusion.

Reviews are important to us, and we appreciate you taking the time to submit your review. I assure you, we don’t have the ability to remove reviews. We know these reviews are also important to anyone looking to work at IZEA. That is why we are continuously encouraging all our employees to submit reviews here. Here’s a link to a help article that may help you troubleshoot what happened to your review in question. http://help.glassdoor.com/article/My-employees-reviews-are-not-posting/en_US IZEA has been in business for over a decade and our people are the driving force behind what we do. You can't be successful for as long as we have without having strong company leadership in tandem with a concrete belief-system/company culture as you pointed-out in your remarks. This is what we believe has lead to our strong team member retention rate as well as being named a top place to work for multiple years running. In regards to salary, there are certainly positions that receive an entry level salary based on the skills and experience needed for that position. We no longer approach raises based on a cost of living adjustment, we implemented performance based raises in 2016. We do our annual reviews and people are given raises based on that performance. As it relates to Campaign Management, we appointed six new Pod Leaders and added a new VP-level layer of leadership over the last year to provide additional management and directional focus for the group. These individuals are spread throughout our Winter Park headquarters in addition to other offices. That said, we certainly recognize that IZEA may not be for everyone, and that's okay. It sounds like you were pretty unhappy during your time with the company and your experience was not aligned to how others see the organization. As opposed to anonymous critique after the fact, we would have preferred to help you address your concerns directly via a confidential conversation with any member of our leadership team.
