Pros

The ground team at Ideon is truly talented, with exceptional skills and knowledge that make them a pleasure to work alongside. Their abilities and dedication to their craft is the one true asset to the company.

Cons

Professional development One of the biggest concerns is the lack of professional development opportunities. External hires are consistently preferred to internal promotions. Additionally, the salary offered is low to average, which is ironic as Ideon prides itself as having some of the best talent in the industry. Stress and work-life balance Another issue is the CEO's pride in it's approach to "building the plane while flying," which makes for a stressful day to day, where the focus is always on fixing the last urgent issue. Weekend and late night work is expected during months long sprints. Diversity The lack of diversity in the management team is quite apparent and not representative of the rest of the team, or the broader community. This lack of representation makes it challenging for employees from underrepresented groups to feel supported and included. Bonus Finally, the company's share options program, which serves as a bonus structure, has been consistently delayed in being paid out. It is presented as "very generous", but it comes with a lot of fine print. Beware of the terms and conditions.

Thanks for your comments and recommendations -- and the hard work you did while at Ideon through our earliest days. We know that the value proposition of working with a start-up is different from that of a large, established company. The experience of building a company from scratch together is a professional development opportunity unlike any other and does require comfort with bold aspirations as well as some ambiguity. That's definitely not for everyone. For candidates considering Ideon, the following context may be useful. Check out our Careers page for more at https://ideon.ai/careers/ : * Scaling a company dramatically (we've doubled in size over the last 6 months) does often require bringing in external talent. When we do this, we see the opportunity for mentorship to help current employees expand their career potential, access extra capacity and more robust feedback loops, and establish more robust career pathing. * Ideon offers access to professional development opportunities such as tuition and accreditation support, as well as access to conferences, online learning, and learning from colleagues. Our employees are asked to identify desired activities in the three Es (education, exposure, experience) for their development plans. * The Ideon salary scale is directly informed by third-party survey data gathered for/by technology companies in BC's lower mainland. We also offered one of the highest cost-of-living adjustments in the region to reflect inflation last year. * Ideon offers a Employee Share Ownership Program (ESOP) that includes both early ownership options (which begin vesting on day one for new hires) as well as annual allocations based on company and personal performance. This program is designed to ensure employees can enjoy the results of the value they create while they are working with us.

Pros

Great location and application in Mining.

Cons

The culture has recently became very toxic with people who are very rude in Nature. Unfortunately these are Managers in respective departments. It's hard to avoid them! Most of the members even old members have left the company and some of them are already looking to switch beginning of the new year. Advice to new applicants: Don't join the company if you're looking for a long tenure with the company.

Thanks for sharing your feedback, which obviously raises serious concerns that merit attention. However, rather than posting anonymously in this public domain without any context or path to engage you, we would hope you would start by using the channels available to you at Ideon to table these issues and co-develop a constructive approach to addressing them. If you feel uncomfortable, our Talent team strives to provide a safe environment where anything can be brought forward. (Please also note that your employee turnover statistic is quite incorrect. )
