Pros

fair pay, decent benefits for a small company

Cons

My experience with Illumination works was marginally ok until the last month; then it was awful. I worked for them for 21 months. I was placed at a local company in a PM role. The assignment was coming to a close due to lack of work. I notified my manager more than 30 days in advance. In 21 months I never had a PA with my manager but was required to do a self- appraisal. My manager of more than a year not once reached out to me for a conversation We never spoke; not once. I received a few form emails, and once and a while he would acknowledge he received my weekly status report. No PA, no discussion of merit/annual increase which just showed up on my pay with no explanation, zero communication. On the last billable day of my assignment, my manager, whom I never spoke to, terminated me via email; had given me no warning this was coming, and cited a personal situation of his which prevented him from having the professionalism to call me. He provided NO information other than I was terminated. I was finally contacted by HR 4 days later after I initiated contact with Emails and phone calls. HR informed me that my health insurance was terminated on the day i was terminated My wife and I essentially went several days without any insurance, and we did not know that was the case. We were able to obtain insurance via the health care exchange the next day. Once I received my final pay stub, it was evident that although ILW terminated my insurance on my last day, they withheld the insurance premium as if the insurance was still in force all month. I am still trying to rectify that situation, but so far phone and email contacts have been ignored. I can only speak to my experiences, management chain and the HR functions but for me ILW is very amateurish. If you go to work for them, don’t expect anything more than a paycheck and cold termination when they are done with you.

Pros

Good sell on the front end, claim to be a consulting company, claim not to be staffing... They are a staffing company point blank.

Cons

Place people in the wrong positions. Set people up for failure. Management is weak. Drinks on the job and the owner punches walls when he's mad. Do not train employees in compliance, HR issue management, disability management, sexual harassment, etc. the Mason office is a train wreck. People walking around in flip flops, bare foot, going out for breakfast, lunch, nothing gets done. Billable staff should be concerned if they are counting on the internal staff to place them in their next gig. They rely on VMS business, can't get a SOW contract signed to save their life because they are too busy goofing off making sexually explicit jokes in the office. Management has the owner fooled...

Pros

There are several good people who are doing their best to keep ILW afloat despite lack of leadership by management.

Cons

Owner wants to be told ONLY how great he is. Will not listen to anyone who wants problems addressed, and there are many.
