Pros

- Nice colleagues (Junior officers & some Senior officers) - Good salary - Benefits are good - Shift hours not too long. (Except for night shift) - Break times are paid, ot pay also good. - No need to bring work to home. - Not stressful for non-specialist position.

Cons

- Routine & auto pilot mode. - Dirty & Filthy inside counters. - Rats, Cockroaches & lizards everywhere inside counter and lockers. - Health will deteriorate if body is not immune to unhealthy smokes (from cars/motorcycles/bus/lorries) & harmful pollution/environment. - MC will be monitored very closely. - Survival of the fittest. - Only healthy and long service officers are able to adapt to the environment (will not be judged by no. of MC's they take) - Canteen food is not hygienic and worms/cockroaches are found inside food. (Invite more vendors to work inside/within the checkpoints!) - Many officers got food poisoning from eating canteen food. (Be more hygienic if you want healthy and energetic officers!) - Favouritism - Higher management very biased - A lot of politics

Lift as an Inspector with ICA

Pros

1) it's a law enforcement job, so it should suit those who loved dealing with deviants and criminals 2) the pay is above average for fresh graduates who are looking to save up fast 3) it's a stable job. they are in need of people so they hardly ask people to leave at the senior officers level (i.e. Inspector and above)

Cons

1) very bureaucratic 2) when the zone that is under your charge makes a lapse, it is on you. Hence, you could have done your job to propertly instruct your team members but if they did not fulfill that instructions, the blame will be on you as a team leader.

Upper management is a joke

Pros

Iron rice bowl. Hard to lose your job if you just follow the rules. One of the few government agencies that pays Overtime pay. Annual increment.

Cons

Annual increment is low. Salary without OT is below the current market rate. No news on any plans of a possible raise in salary to match the market average. Issues with salary (incorrect salary credited) has been ongoing since 2021 till today and has not been resolved. At least 8 years in one checkpoint. Most officers rarely stay till their next posting. No work life balance. Annual Leave is always rejected due to manpower constraints. Even after getting your leave approved, there is a chance of getting recalled to work due to manpower shortage. Forced to work OT every month without fail. MCs are closely monitored and tied to your yearly grading. Senior Management are leading the organisation like a bunch of headless chickens. They got no clue of how the operations on the ground actually works.
