Not worth the stress

Pros

-Casual office vibe, nothing pretentious -A few people on the team were really great and added some relief to long, stressful days. Definitely a place where you can find solace and help in co-worker friendship. Overall the team was nice and down-to-earth as well. -Management and senior editors were usually open to allowing entry-level employees and interns to work on big stories if they really pushed for it.

Cons

-This job completely turned me off from working in media/journalism. I took a hard pivot in my career path after quitting. -Management was difficult to read/get along with; sometimes friendly and sometimes intimidating. -Long, long days with the constant stress of churning out articles and maintaining both a live website and print magazine. Never a down moment to breathe or create quality work. It was common to see folks taking work home due to the sheer amount. Poor work/life balance. -All non-senior employees were extremely underpaid and consistently denied raises/promotions they deserved. But also this isn't anything really out of the ordinary in the media/journalism industry. -Lots of restructuring/organizational changes that would happen behind the scenes while leaving staff in the dark. Until suddenly there would be a big meeting announced out of nowhere to communicate the changes.
