Great Place to Work

Pros

Great place to work, strong alignment with values and the work to support people with disabilities and their families. Workplace culture is great, have had great support from leadership and colleagues alike. Work life balance is encouraged and protected.

Cons

As a non profit spread throughout the province it can be difficult to meet colleagues in person so there are lots of virtual meetings. That being said, virtual meeting familiarity comfortability has increased a lot since covid.

Pros

The teams are amazing, the training is thorough, and there is such a conscious effort to ensure that our staff feel supported and happy, and that the families and people we are connected to are receiving the best support possible. I truly never want to leave this organization. You can grow with it, explore lots of different initiatives, and they encourage you to keep learning and expanding what you want to do. It's a learning organization, that revolves around centring families and reflection. You get to meet incredible people, and create opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities who would probably not be presented those opportunities elsewhere. This work truly changes lives, and changes communities.

Cons

The work is not easy. You have to do a lot of critical self-reflection (which can also be a pro!), and be ready to receive a lot of feedback. The work we do here is different than any other organization that supports and works with people with intellectual disabilities, and you sometimes have to confront really hard truths of the realities of what those peoples' lives look like for the most part. You need to have a good support network around you to do this work.
