Awful, Just Awful

Pros

I worked with some awesome nurses here! They were very smart, hard working, and very patient-focused. Until they all quit.

Cons

Poor to NO management. They only show up to tell you something negative. (either as an individual or as a group) There is no positive feedback. Management does not support their nurses, does not stand up for them. Benefits are terrible. Some of the worse insurance ever, it covers basically nothing. The culture there is awful too. Lots of petty behavior, gossiping, He said/She said, immature behavior. (And some of that was from my manager) At times it felt like being back in middle school with all the gossiping and cliques, etc.

Pros

Pays is OK, but the benefits are horrid.

Cons

Very "political", cliquey, lots of favortism. Plus nurses end up doing essentially primary care on 5-6 patients, for some reason the aides are allowed to "pick and choose" what they feel like doing- which is not much. Orientation is a free form trial by fire- there doesn't seem to be a plan for actually orientating, or allowing you to learn the job systematically, multiple preceptors based on whosever around that shift, most likely because a preceptor and orientee are viewed as a team of tow and given heavier assignments, rather than an assignment that allows ample learning time. there is absolutely no support for nurses when it comes to allowing them to delegate; or in dealing with unreasonable patients and families- "the customer is always right", even when their demands are impossible to meet. The talk a good game about "employee engagement". but they don't really want your input. They want you to smile and agree with what ever they say. The headaches really aren't worth the pay- which is probably why they have problems retaining adequate, competent staff.

Pros

Pay was good and the people nice. Insurance was very affordable IF single or paying for only yourself.

Cons

Insurance is very expensive if you’re paying for your entire family.
