Pros

The office is located in Santa Monica and not too far from the beach. There are smart, talented, and creative people on board.

Cons

It is true that most of the founding team have never worked in the U.S. or have run a business. Issues have arisen because of their lack of knowledge or care. They are constantly putting out fires due to upper management's inexperience with running a business. Our HR department should and needs to be improved. I agree that employees do seem miserable at tispr - it either shows on their face or they act out in immature ways. The product is not where it should be, yet they are trying to make improvements to the platform. Forget about having cool, fun startup incentives for all your hard work, there are NONE unless you count foosball, ping pong and pool as great incentives. If you are interested in a job at the tispr headquarters, have other job options on your list as a backup plan.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. I’d like to address each of your concern points as it’s of the utmost importance to us that both our employees and the tispr community are happy in their work. - We are proud of our diverse and international founding team, which comprises people with different backgrounds and cultures. Both from the U.S. and other countries. This is not just represented in our “founding team” but at an entire company level, from our investors, team members and advisors, we are an international and open company. Our investing and advising team is comprised of the highest level industry leaders in the field, who have achieved great success within the U.S. and abroad. - The value of a start-up comes from the people who comprise the team, the company’s mission and the culture which weaves it all together. In my view, the team and people are and should remain the biggest driving incentive to join a company. This is part of our culture. - A start-up is by default about “constant improvement and learning”, because when one creates a company everything needs to be made from the bottom up, from scratch. The culture we share at tispr, is that when something needs improvement, it’s up to the team and the people to “make it happen” and create value. - We care about our team. Full stop. This is why we spend countless hours together, both at work and privately - through challenge and joy. The team at tispr is not miserable. It’s Epic. - We have over 20 amazing people working on the first tispr product today. I am sure that they will appreciate your open feedback and suggestions for improvement, as we are always open to hear from both our community and our team members. As such, please feel free to email me so I can take the time to understand your feedback in more detail. I hope this speaks to your inquiries, and look forward to moving towards resolution. Pros

Working at tispr is fantastic! The team is wonderful, everyone works together well, and it's refreshing coming to work and working alongside such a dedicated bunch of people. Are there some complications, sure but it's a start-up company thats still figuring it. Nonetheless, no company is perfect but the good outweighs everything else!

Cons

Anyone applying needs to fully remember, tispr is a startup company (which is not a con in any way whatsoever to me...it apparently was to some of the people who left negative reviews because they didn't clearly realize that they aren't suited for this life). Pay may not be so realistic....but again, it's a startup so sometimes we have to make sacrifices. Sometimes, it looks like certain people get preferential treatment which is discouraging.

Dear Entrepreneur, Thank you for the warm and constructive feedback - I really appreciate it. A company is equal to the people who make it. Collectively - we make tispr what it is, what it could be and what it will be. To address your improvement points, thanks for being so transparent. I would align the definition of start-up to “it all needs to get done, as good and as fast as possible/impossible.” - it’s about balancing high set objectives, thousands of things to-do with very limited resources. What makes it exciting is the true nature of that challenge and the human journey which accompanies it. A group of people who are and go beyond the average to make something exceptional and believe in something bigger. It is our intention to become more “realistic” as we grow - as we keep succeeding in each small challenge, we will be able to eventually succeed at a larger and more significant scale. Thank you for your feedback about preferential treatment - I take this serious and to heart. Should you be able to discuss this with me - I would be thrilled to understand more about this and how we can improve this. I always strive to be receptive and open to any kind of feedback and will work on this matter to my best ability. In no way do I wish to discourage in any manner - and I will keep a sharp eye on this. Your recommendation is also much appreciated - achieving balance in life and work is sometimes challenging, it is however of upmost importance and essential for success at work and in our private environment. If you ever feel overworked or tired - please do not hesitate to communicate with me and we will find a way to help out. It’s a marathon, and we are all athletes - so we need to make sure we alternate hard training with well earned rest. The team’s hard work, commitments and drive are noticed every day and every moment. When we win - we will win together, our efforts will earn us our shared success as a team. Let’s keep driving, loving and winning. Rock on and thank you for sharing this beautiful journey with me. I am honored to have such a great team. Best, Sebastian Alyn Gyr - CEO

Good People, Bad Product

Pros

The people I worked with on the marketing team were amazing, I really enjoyed each of our team meetings. They were smart, dedicated, hard-working, innovative, and effective. Unfortunately almost all of that team was laid off or left the company. So, I can't vouch for many of the people left.

Cons

The product is about a B- level. It works good enough that the company won't scrap it and start over, but it doesn't work well enough for it to catch on and actually be something people want. The leadership, especially the CEO, are not aware that the product isn't good enough and seek to blame every other department for the product's failure to find customers. I was laid off after only 6 months in which I met and exceeded every goal laid out for me and in which I took on more than three other people's jobs after they left and were never replaced. I am not writing this review out of bitterness though, the criticisms I offered are legitimate and need to be addressed if this company will ever find success.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. After a long and very deliberate review of all the options, we decided that it was best for the health of the company to undergo a re-org with the understanding that, unfortunately, would also impact some of our great people. This decision was not easily made, yet we believe that it was necessary to support the needs of the business, giving us more agility and the ability to be more responsive to our customers and the marketplace. In terms of our product offering, while we appreciate your feedback and there's certainly room for improvement, we actually consistently receive positive reviews, our churn rate is very low and 30% of our customers are coming through referral. Thank you again for your feedback and wishing you all the best in your next project.
