Pros

Some supervisors who really care about us. We pray they don’t leave. Good values but aren’t lived up to.

Cons

When all the senior leadership is jumping ship to “spend more time with family” is alarming. Most workers are from India or some other country. Some leaders will openly brag about taking down their managers. LOTS of favorites. Most of us who know what we’re doing are overworked. My own team lead is managing about 70 people and complains that he’s not a supervisor but wont say anything cause afraid they wont get the role or blackballed. People do other roles for months without pay adjustments. Don’t let the best place awards fool you. Surveys are in house and not anonymous and we’re not gonna risk retaliation. Those of us who know or have experience came for opportunity to grow but don’t even want to move up because of all the toxicity.

Pros

This was a promising start up and they’re now doing amazing. It’s very fulfilling being a part of something that directly improves the lives of countless people and actually creates jobs. “Lower” management had to be some of the best people on the planet. Team leads and operations supervisors are going to be there the entire way. You will never lack in support and ability to grow with their guidance. The diversity and inclusiveness there is awesome. The business itself will contribute to skyrocket.

Cons

The only thing that would make the KPI and metrics tracking more strict is literally a camera and a keyboard logger. Speaking of, as operator, you are just a set of numbers with a name tag. You quite literally have a productivity score which does not account for unusual circumstances in a work day that are beyond your control. Though everything you do is tracked, you still have to manually input simple things like breaks through multiple channels of communication. Accommodations for anything from disability to maternal leave is at bread-crumb level. Prepare to have to advocate for yourself very explicitly and assertively. The environment that the operations team has to work in under so much scrutiny will only get worse. You are mandated 10-12 hours for the traffic-heavy month of January to assist with business needs because it’s easier and cheaper than hiring additional seasonal help. Repeated Mistakes (such as typo or a missed stepped) are kind of not allowed. Expert level data entry and ability to adapt to ever changing SOPs and guidelines is expected. It is customer service and data entry on steroids. You cannot regularly get tired or burned out for those 8 hours. You get a 30 minute lunch and two 10 minute breaks only. Be expected to do these high intensity work without reasonable accommodations.

Pros

Was a valuable learning opportunity

Cons

Few engineers over 30 years old, this is the first post-academia job for many. "Disagree and Commit" company culture of intellectual compliance discourages honest expression of critical feedback. You will be reminded to follow "disagree and commit" compliance requirement by enforcer-style management. Honest critical feedback can get you fired by leadership even following positive performance reviews.
