Pros

Nice office space. Fellow employees.

Cons

I would honestly avoid working here. When I got the offer it was like a dream come true. Once I started working here, I realized it was a disorganized mess. There’s a reason Influenster has failed to raise money in a while and that’s because they have the most unorganized and efficient management team. The leadership is uninspiring and lacks integrity. Everyone one is so unhappy here and there is a culture of fear. They initially agree on a strategy and then change minds almost immediately. Honestly the leadership have no idea what they are doing. Don’t even bother applying or accepting a position here if you don’t want your life to be sad. There are lots of other companies that will value you.

We value all feedback, however, we feel it is necessary to address statements that are not based on facts. Influenster is proud to be a profitable company and therefore, there has been no need to raise any money. Everyone at Influenster is dedicated to the vision and direction of the company. The founders' vision and the collaborative team environment is evidenced by the recognition and awards the company has received. Influenster is a leader in the industry, as confirmed by the following awards: #15 on the list of 50 Fastest-Growing Women-Owned/Led Companies by Women Presidents' Organization America's Best Entrepreneurial Companies in 2017 by Entrepreneur Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in the US (2016, 2017, 2018) Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500 in North America Because of its success, Influenster not only has the means, but continues to invest in its people and products in order to achieve its goals without need for outside investment. We value feedback and invite you or anyone else with questions to contact us at hr.confidential@influenster.com

Pros

Free lunch and dogs are allowed in the office

Cons

Granted, I was a freelancer so I don't have the full scope of the horrors that happened at Influenster, but I couldn't believe the way in which this place of business was run. The first and most apparent thing that I noticed was the LACK of diversity in a modern NYC office. You can count the number of people of color in the office with one hand. Secondly, you are watched like a hawk. There are rumors that the CEOs watch the employees through the cameras that are set up around the office. Everything here, the work streams, teh meetings, the way the business is set up is inefficient and is all just busy work - which extremely bogs down your work/life balance and you are churning out emails and proposals all day. It seems like there is no real desire to improve this inefficiency from the managers, directors, or the Founders (also I don't know if they understand that this is a huge problem). Lastly everyone who was probably a good thing for the company has realized and left (for the better) because the founders have antagonized, micromanaged, and belittled prospective change makers within the company to leave. At the end of the day -everyone here is super stressed out, and works in fear. Don't even get me started on the slack culture that exists here - it is insane how almost everyone's dirty laundry is left out on slack and the founders have been involved with these public shaming and other company conversations that should definitely not been on the #general Slack. I am so glad that I am gone and have left this place behind.

It is unfortunate that you view your personal experience negatively; however, we feel it is necessary to address the statements made that are not based on facts. Here are some facts we would like to address: We are very diverse - to state otherwise is not true. We value and respect our diverse culture comprised of team members from different countries, races, religions, and ethnicities. Like many professional companies we have cameras in plain sight for the safety and security of our employees and property. We value our employees. We listen to, respect, coach, mentor, and promote employees who value the company. Our values, benefits and perks, our employee longevity, internal promotions, financial successes and our millions of growing members speak for themselves. If you have any questions about our team dynamics or workflow, where we encourage both autonomy and collaboration, then please feel free to email me directly at: hr.confidential@influenster.com

Pros

Free food Dogs Only wrote these because it is required by Glassdoor

Cons

Free food and a dog-friendly environment are NOT enough to be the saving grace for any company. PLEASE READ UP PEOPLE AND BELIEVE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS before accepting a job offer from Influenster. At Influenster, I experienced one of the most toxic work environments I had the misfortune to encounter and boy howdy have I been in some bad places. As pointed out in many other reviews, the co-founders don't know what they're doing and I am surprised the company is still in business. The female co-founder spouts a bunch of nonsense on how she is a #girlboss doing her thing, but fails to mention at her PR events that if you have the bad luck of working with her, you are nothing but a peon who is there to satisfy her every demand without question. Questioning her is not even a possibility because you will immediately get shut down. The male co-founder is haughty as well, and is probably using his trust fund money to keep the place afloat. I could never figure out what he did other than throw around flimsy ideas and storm out of meetings because somebody disagreed with him. Also, pro-tip that the founders are also romantic partners so you can deduce what you will from that. Bullying, cliques, and gossip run rampant and are often fueled by co-founders, leaders, and possibly your own manager who should ideally have your back in any other work environment. The comments about the Slack shaming are very much true, and if you want to be harassed and bullied in the General channel (by the co-founder no less) for something so miniscule as coming in 5 minutes late, by all means, take the job. Organizationally speaking, the structure is incredibly flat. You are either loved by management because you work in sales or you are an old-timer (seniority does not always save you from bullying), or you are nobody and you can get cut the minute they change course which is OFTEN. Your manager will be chomping at the bit to throw you under the bus to save their own skin. The co-founders are also not transparent whatsoever about how the company makes money (big “IF”), so that’s scammy and scary as well. If you do not care for working in a chaotic, unstable environment where you dread going into work everyday I urge you to stay away.
