Pros

Located close enough to customer/far enough from the beltway. Some nice people in HQ (although cliques are very disruptive in the office). Free bagels from time to time and occasional attempts to increase the morale.

Cons

Company prides itself on being a well ran small business that won't "wrong" their employees like large businesses in the sector do. Unfortunately cannot be further from the truth. CEO is rude and speaks to and of his employees in a condescending way. Many reviews truthfully detail this and question how this goes on, but leadership as a whole enables it. Everyone tries to play the "We aren't like him....I stand up to him and tell him to change...I'm so much more understanding" but directors fail the office equally by silently being bystanders to his unprofessional and prejudice antics. I personally overheard the CEO jokingly considering referring to a deceased employee and bragging about underpaying his support staff. I was told in my interview that the company isn't publicly traded- makes sense because it would be a PR disaster maintaining shareholders who would endorse that environment.

Pros

Operations Manager is a great guy that does his best to go to bat for his employees. They have a pool table sitting in the lobby (looks nice).

Cons

The owner. This guy is always meddling, Never lets you do your job with out second guessing you, Systematically targets employees that he feels should be doing their job differently and then runs them out. He's a bully and a braggart who's presents is always felt. Employees are not people at this company they are resources, that's it! Benefits are terrible. The owner prides himself on scamming the system, like pushing his employees to put out phony reviews to different contests so they can be rated as one of the best places to work.

Pros

The Operations Manager is a great guy, as far as it goes. Its a small company so you can get very close to everyone, but don't get used to it.

Cons

1. Because its so small, this place is very cliquish. 2. The Owner likes to be involved in EVERYTHING. and you have to get the owners approval for even the most minor actions. 3. The so-called Managers and Directors really have no authority or budgets. They cant spend a dollar without owner say-so. 4. The owner likes to give you face time, but trust me, he doesn't really care a thing about you. If you start a conversation, he gets to moving really fast, especially if you have a complaint. His idea of "caring' is so fake and even more obvious that its nauseating. 5. The owner has a habit of being personable and showing he cares by hugging people. Its makes you feel uncomfortable, but you don't want to be on his bad side. You will get fired quick because he views everything through a personal lens. Very unprofessional work environment. People leave frequently, which is way above normal but the owner and management assume its bad people, and are too arrogant to realize its them. 6. Favoritism, favoritism, favoritism.. If you're on the owners good side, you stay, whether you do anything or not. If you do your job, but don't want to be hugged or fondled, or talked about negatively (to your face, and in front of everyone), in a joking manner, you wont be around long. 7. The only reason that companies like IMG VA get a "Best Place To Work" rating is that the reviews are nonsensical cherry-picked surveys. If you want to keep your job, you better answer positively, as the surveys can be traced back to you (by email or IP Address). So, don't be fooled when they throw this out there. 8. Very petty and childish behavior from management and owner. They are vindictive. If the owner takes a dislike to you, (which he is prone to do, Even though he should have no interaction with you) it wont be long before he pressures management to get rid of you. He is the naked Emperor. Heaven forbid you have a complaint. I have seen it time and again that the time between complaint and dismissal is very short. The owner is always right in his mind, despite the fact that he is technically incompetent. Constructive criticism? Keep it to yourself if you want to keep your job. 9. You can bet that the only people giving work at IMG VA positive reviews are those who were the owners paid-for "friends"/employees, went to lunch with management or the owner (only "certain" people are ever invited) daily, or worked offsite. 10. I am amazed that they haven't been sued for discrimination. I have watched time and again as minorities are the ones singled out for verbal abuse and quick termination (after they have been "bad-mouthed" and abused). Equal opportunity? Yep, everyone is treated like crap, equally 11. This is a stopping place to gain minimal experience, as you are working for a one-trick-pony company, but not a viable long term employment opportunity. 12. You bring the skills, or acquire them, and they charge the Government top dollar for your services, but, don't expect any of this to be passed on to you. Its a battle to get even a meager pay raise at IMG. 13. When you leave (and you WILL leave), the owner will be put out and take it personally as if you rejected him. This can turn nasty and most often does. 2 week notice is a myth, because they wont want to pay you for 2weeksif you're leaving 14. There is NO upwards mobility 15. The owner is so incompetent, but its best not to correct him. You might spend days doing what he wants, after you've told him it is incorrect, just to be told by management that its wrong, and by the way, it will still be your fault
