Pros

Lots of good engineers and genuinely good people. Relaxed work atmosphere (9 to 5) when you have a job. Beer Thursdays once a month are back. Party planning committee does a good job of trying to boost the morale. Decent vacation policy (15 days) gets better after 5 years (20 days).

Cons

TECHNOLOGY: It is not as great as people at Ingenu believe. There is a reason that there are only handful of deployments, with largest deployment of a paltry 40000 endpoints, after 8 years of countless trials and pilots. Most of these deployments were priced ridiculously to win. The technology has fundamental limitations and this is the core problem. BOARD & CO-FOUNDERS: The figurehead board does not do its job. Main investor and co-founders are fickle minded and desperate. They run door-to-door chasing the next thing without a well-thought out strategy and discipline. They grossly underestimate expenditure and overestimate future revenue. This is why the company keeps digging itself into a financial hole. EXECUTIVE TEAM: Thanks to this "next girlfriend" approach, the executive team minus the founders (i.e. CEO, marketing, sales, finance, product) is a revolving door every 2 years. This creates confusion and uncertainty in rank and file. Oddly, there is a deeply embedded culture of engineering first and not customers and market share first, which is inherent reason for the inability of the company to pivot and be successful. FINANCING: There has been no major investor other than third wave because the company is unable to generate revenues, for the above 3 key reasons, even after 9 years of existence. The last interim co-CEOs were supposed to invest but left in 1 week!! Current interim CEO is the third wave investor partner. FUTURE: Now that the new CEO, who is VC and not a business strategist, has direct visibility into the true problem at hands, I bet he will try to put lipstick on the pig and sell it for the best deal he can get. There is always a deal for the right price, and when it happens, the co-founders and early employees will do fine to OK while the rest of us will have nothing to show for our work. FUTURE EMPLOYEE: Pay is below industry average. No pay hikes or bonuses (no money). No 401K matching. 20% of health from your pocket + high deductibles. Surprisingly no stock options for performance! High turnover among non-founding employees.

Atrocious Business Leadership and Board

Pros

Great engineering team and RPMA works. The scale of what could be with this tech is massive! It has the potential to time the market very well..BUT..

Cons

Business team and CEO are completely incompetent. CEO is the lead investor but knows nothing about the company. He speaks only in the highest level platitudes, makes promises regarding funding that he can’t even possibly believe, then goes weeks without any communication to the team as payroll after payroll is missed, only to send notes that are chocked full of smug combat movies references that are incredibly insulting to the team’s intelligence not to mention the combat veterans that work here. The newly appointed “chief commercial officer” (the CEOs buddy) has no idea what this company does as evidenced by the latest press release for “platform as a service”. He’s closed off to any feedback and is never in the office. As a matter of fact, he believes we can close our office space because we can put the data center in the cloud. Well - our data center is already in the cloud which he would know if he talked to anyone and..it turns out a technology company needs office space especially a lab!! He believes the entire engineering team is irrelevant and can be let go without missing a beat. Pretty bold claim in regards to a.. TECHNOLOGY COMPANY! But on the other hand, if you’re trying to get a C-level executive (like our new “CCO”) to come into a situation of significant personal liability for payrolls missed, you’re likely going to be scraping the bottom of the barrel. So no surprises here. The fact of the matter is that the company is in control of our board which represents a single interest (Third Wave Ventures). They have the unfortunate combination of a) clearly having no access to capital b) no understanding of the business and c) delusional enough to not turn this company over to folks that can fundraiser and manage. As a matter of fact, their stranglehold on the company has NEVER been stronger!

Unstable, doesn't take care of employees

Pros

Cool people and technology has great potential. There is a small group of employees trying to keep the culture and morale going during these uncertain times. It can be a fun place to work, with the opportunity to grow professionally and wear various hats, but for the other reasons stated below - I don't recommend this as a good place to work. Avoid at all costs.

Cons

Management is a mess. Seems to be a revolving door for CEO's and business strategy. Through all of the constant changes, management keeps the employees in the dark... Don't expect to be paid on time or given yearly raises. Management goes through the whole performance review exercise, makes promises for when raises/bonuses will be awarded and then doesn't follow through. You'll get nothing. Morale is at an all time low and management does nothing to acknowledge this or change it.
