I worked at Ingram Micro full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Most partners are happy to take your call or welcome a meet up. They are usually just happy to have someone from IM proactively contact them.

    Cons

Outsourced quoting and Presales is not the best. Response times can be too long and partners often don’t get the answers they seek. Management keep moving staff around and partners have to deal with new people on their account every 6 to 12 months and this is annoying for them. Staff usually don’t have any say re these changes in their career path either.

    Advice to Management

Ask your customers how they feel about staff changes and whether it is easy (or not) to navigate IM.

I worked at Ingram Micro full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Exposure to a plethora of technology, good people and the company is well regarded externally. The complimentary Cafe grade coffee is wonderful!

    Cons

Cumbersome Internal processes, loyalty not valued (you can be rewarded for leaving your job and rewarded with a pay rise for coming back!). Disregard/lack of value for tenure by internal management.

    Advice to Management

Ensure that existing employees are prioritised for internal roles over external candidates. Hire external business consultants to evaluate and improve internal processes. Streamline the internal expenses process. Make staff morale a higher priority. Give staff the opportunity to take paid leave to engage in community volunteering. Reward staff for loyalty on a more frequent basis.
