This company attempts to pass itself off as a legitimate corporation hiring for a management position when in reality it is a MLM and maybe even an upside down pyramid employment scheme. You are presented with a so called company recruiter who contacts you after you apply for a phone interview. From there you get an appointment with a supposedly C-Suite level Executive in a very nice looking glass mid rise tower. So far so good, you’re impressed because the facade is legitimatizing any doubts, if any, you had concerning if this is a “real”, as advertised, job/career opportunity. You find the floor and suite level right off of the elevator and again you’re impressed because the lobby area is very nice and even welcoming. You are greeted by a couple of receptionists who are accommodating, very polite and professional. Again, so far so good. One of the receptionists calls the “Executive” announcing your arrival for your scheduled appointment time. Of course, you on-time and maybe even early. You are kept waiting for approximately 5-10 minutes passed the scheduled appointment time to give the elusion of a very busy executive and the elusion is furthered with the comings and goings of other people who apparently work there. Finally you are led back by a suit wearing professional “mid-management” looking (not C-Suite) individual who comes across as a nice intelligent and inviting company hiring manager. You get into his office and it barely the size of a double sized coat closet OR large kitchen pantry. You look around and see no framed art on the walls or framed family photographs (it may be a little different now 6 months later from when I was there) on a the desk or cradenza (what cradenza I don’t remember one). The office window overlooks the parking lot and while the parking lot is nice it definitely is not the corner C-Suite office and not what you’d expect for a senior manager. So you are now into the interview and it is mainly a sales pitch job to go work hourly in a retail environment making my barely over the minimum wage per hour AND that’s basically a draw against commission. While, I never really completely understood the commission structure I do understand draw AND I do understand “retail” AND I do understand third party kiosk within a retail bricks and mortar store. Now, as you begin to try and ask questions and start to show signs of, “am I wasting my time right now?” AND you are realizing this is not at all what the job description described, your interviewer senses this and starts to redouble his efforts and persuasion on the features and benefits of the position (never heard what they were it was all double talk and how you’ll get promoted and be a hero, etc. blah, blah, blah) AND how you are he are going to be a great team. NOW you completely realize this is a one man office leasing office space from companies who put the whole package/facade together to provide exactly the atmosphere you have experienced and I have described. Then you remember there was no company name on the wall in the lobby and no one commensurates with one another because they don’t know each other. Each individual represents a different company, organization or self employed entity. At this point you get the picture. Draw your own opinion/conclusion however, if this is what you’re looking for then this is for you. If not RUN, don’t walk!!!
