Pros

1 - Really interesting colleagues. 2 - Really interesting clients. 3 - Really interesting work. 4 - Great, fun workplace culture (So so so so much better than other places I've worked) inc.: climbing; frisbee; lunch chat together every day; parties; other nonsense. 5 - Freedom to do basically anything you want with your role so long as it's good for the company. 6 - Self-managed workload (good if you need a light week). 7 - Very flexible hours/days. 8 - Didn't furlough or fire any consultants during Covid. 9 - Management are impressively open to criticism (like, you-can-pull-the-CEO-into-a-room-and-pick-holes-in-their-decisions type open) and will re-write policy that is not working (or is shown to be non-inclusive, or discriminatory, or whatever).

Cons

A - Pay is good, but no Deloitte. B - Self-managed workload (bad if you are junior and/or susceptible to inviting overwork) C - With hands-off management (and without commissions or bonuses), self-motivation can be difficult. D - As with all consultancy, the uncertainty can be stressful. E - Frustratingly risk/cost-averse facilities management, but that's a very minor thing. The office is more exciting than it used to be. Thankfully.

Pros

You work with some of the brightest people and free lunch... and that's about it. Too bad that the company takes advantage of bright minds and squeezes them for all they've got without much reward in return for their hard work.

Cons

For a company of such a small size, it is extremely top heavy (6 directors). And, for an innovation company, it's ironic that all decisions are extremely risk averse. Add the fact that there are 6 directors and the growth and progression of the company is slower than a snail's pace. They're positioned as a life-style company... but the best people have to put in ~9-10 hrs per day. Some directors are respectable, others are jokes. Designers are slaves in this company and not paid enough or respected for what they do. A mentality that I can't stand is that anything related to being remotely creative or artistic is viewed as a "cheap skill" that can be contracted in. "Soft skills" are not valued over top scores. Also, there's no career path. Everyone comes in with their set of skills, is expected top contribute, and then sink or swim. External training courses are meant to supplement their lack of formal training within the company. I think it's to compensate for the fact that they have no idea what to do themselves. Be prepared to spend hundreds of hours on google and reading scientific papers then repackage the information for clients.

Pros

- Stimulating interesting problems - Diverse range of clients across many industries - Truly exceptional, world-leading colleagues - Warm, caring culture spearheaded by CEO - Flat hierarchy, opportunity to take on responsibility relatively quickly

Cons

- Pay slightly below market rates, although efforts are being made to rectify this - Internal decision making is slow and conservative, involving too many people - Large non-consulting management group of employees. The size of the company doesn't justify the cost - Lack of recognition of performance
