Unsettling Company and Work Environment

Pros

Direct manager was fantastic.

Cons

Absolutely despicable communication from CEO and upper management. We never knew anything that was going on in the company and spent a lot of time sorting through lies we were told on an almost daily basis. Abrasive HR. Very defensive and generally unhelpful. I always felt like I was angering them with my questions. Paid late on multiple occasions because of severe lack of funds. Between this and the lies about the state of the company, I was and am very suspicious of upper management's business practices. C-levels were still taking bonuses when we weren't getting paid. Unsurprisingly given the circumstances, morale was terrible at work.

Bad place to work

Pros

Prior to the sale of Lilien LLC to Sysorex, which later became Inpixon, this company was one f the best places for a tech to work in the entire Bay Area. The owner was a wonderful boss, and management was steady and evenhanded.

Cons

After the sale, everything went 180 degrees. Upper management made a series of stupid acquisitions, lost focus on what the company strengths were, and muddled the mission of the company to the detriment of every employee. As of this writing, they are behind on payrolls, 401k payments and have stopped paying contractors altogether. What a waste.

Pros

Some of the employees are really great, though they will likely quit once the pandemic ends. Benefits are okay. Many of the middle-managers and leaders are great, but ultimately they are actively stifled and prevented from making this company what it COULD be. Depending on the team, great work-life balance.

Cons

No professional development unless you're one of the lucky chosen few. Executive team makes truly baffling decisions. They hire smart people, don't listen to them, then the smart people tend to leave. More concerned with stroking egos than doing the work. Lack of investment in product, employees, or any sort of real onboarding. Very easy to spend years here and have nothing to show for it. It's an uphill battle to achieve anything worthwhile or productive. Exec team also doesn't seem to realize pandemic is still happening? Maybe if they ever approved the initiatives brought forward by HR, this place would be somewhere rewarding to work - big maybe. The toxic attitudes and baffling stupidity of some of the dude-bros in leadership roles is astounding. I've never worked anywhere more committed to self sabotage and it is truly a shame for the many wonderful employees that are there.
