Organization plagued with lack of support, overwork & white supremacy
Pros
- There are a number of smart and well-intentioned people - Increase in salary - Growth opportunities
Cons
This organization is driven by the bottom line - revenue. This bottom line fuels much of the culture of overwork for employees and recommendations to partners that are driven by expansion rather than what is best for the schools. Schools and districts have limited funding and directives from managers come in the form of pressure for larger contracts. Yet, they claim to be focused on support and equity at schools. This is just one of many examples of how this organization's claimed values are often in direct contradiction of its actions. It has a lot of work to do with DEI and as a person of color, I often felt silenced, gaslit and forced to shoulder high levels of accountability when the issue being faced was more of an organization gap. I received very little support in my role and faced challenges outside of my control. People move in and out of the organization often. Managers and leaders are inexperienced and more technical leaders than people leaders. Its is very demotivating to work for such leaders. If you want to do this type of work, there are many other similar organizations with much stronger work culture, supports and are further along their DEI journey. I would NOT recommend throwing your hat here.
