Pros

The pay is decent and flexible hours but this applies to most software jobs in the area.

Cons

I was not impressed with the interview process, I didn't know the team I was going to be assigned to, a gamble on my part. The CEO only seems to care about getting contracts to earn more money for himself and gives out empty offers. Time off was very painful to accurate, most of my vacations were unpaid. Benefits are basic. At the secondary office, there are no janitors resulting in a messy office, especially the restrooms.

Pros

- Lots of genuinely good, friendly people - The owners care about people more than just profit, which is fantastic - There is little to no pressure towards a negative work/life balance. Once in a while there will be a situation where a customer wants extra, but Mark is good about giving the employee a choice in whether they accept. - Surrounded by knowledgeable people (though you'll likely only be interacting with a few of them at a time because of how projects work) - Good place for newer developers to have access to kind and helpful people. Perhaps not as good for more senior people since they'll be looking to you to fill in those gaps and that might not be for everyone.

Cons

- There is a lot of emphasis on compensation being "fair". This sounds good in theory, but in practice "fair" just means "not bad" and not "good". There is a mismatch here, since IntelliTect wants (and sells themselves on having) great developers, but is only willing/able to provide pretty average compensation. - Your experience will vary greatly based on what project you're on. Some are good, some are pretty bad. Being a "high end consultant" is sold as if you're going to be some elite expert coming into places to help do cool things. It can be that for some projects... but for many more you'll feel more like a second-class citizen or a mercenary coming to do the dirty work that no one else wants to do. How "supported" you are will vary a lot by project as well, so people without a lot of initiative to figure things out on their own will probably struggle. - There is often ambiguity which can be really difficult for some personality types. In recent months the leadership has made progress in this area and hopefully they'll continue to do so.

Thank you for taking the time to provide such a thorough review. We truly care about your well-being and appreciate the feedback. We work hard to provide many benefits beyond compensation, and we have received consistent feedback that our developers are in favor of us continuing to provide those benefits. The customer, employee, and company all benefit from our collaborative work culture and we are continuing to put more emphasis on this. We realize completing certifications can sometimes be a daunting task, but obtaining them brings about more project opportunities that allow great growth and experiences for our employees – many of whom prefer taking on new projects with their different challenges. We are looking forward to our continued growth and the variety of opportunities we can provide for our developers.

I apologize for not responding to this review sooner. Thank you for taking the time to review our company. We value all feedback at IntelliTect, but I would like to address your specific response about our company’s communication. I’m always looking for ways to evaluate and improve communication at IntelliTect and admit there are times that it could have been improved. There are many ideas that we have for internal communicating, several of which have been rolled out. We will continue to push forward on them. Thank you for noting our flexible work environment and the time off that we provide. I also value family time. Time away from work is critical and, I believe, leads to a happier, more successful work life. It’s also one of the reasons that we plan team bonding events like our book clubs, puzzle lunches and paid trips to see movies. I will be taking your feedback and addressing the places that we missed in delivering you an exceptional work environment. Cheers, Mark Michaelis Founder
