Pros

Big database, okay base salaries, working with Doda (the main brand), office in Marunouchi Building, some good people at below management level, etc.

Cons

Bonus system unfair - team P&L system, so if one member of a team works very hard, if their team members haven't worked as hard (or had a unlucky quarter) they wouldn't make any money. Bonuses seem to be 10-20% of the billings. People are only promoted on friendship, not by billing or management potential. All managers seem unable to manage their teams. The MD only cares in beating Robert Walters revenue or discussing his cars and property investments (then strongly recommending to staff to invest in the same). Out of 3 directors, one was very strong maybe the next MD, but apparently he was recently let go of. KPI focus- if you don't hit KPI targets - you will be fired at some point.

Pros

Working under the name of intelligence Close to Tokyo station Many employees can't speak Japanese so it can be good opinion for someone who doesn't speak Japanese

Cons

Always under targets Cheat employees with the cost and budget system Worst bonus system in comparison to other recruiting firms A lot of politics Many employees left the company this year You can't make money in this company though they say you can. Many teams steal deals from each other

Pros

Freedom to make any clients. Able to work with consultants and staff in parent company to better work with candidates and clients. Nice people to work with for the most part. Office is in a nice location and building. Company has easy access to most clients and companies so easy to make new clients. Large database for parent company (You need to be able to read Japanese to use it) Health insurance and travel expenses covered by company. Company PC. Company phone (albeit it being an old flip phone) Nice meeting rooms for candidates. Nice toilet facilities. Good access to restaurants and food facilities for lunch and candidate meetings.

Cons

Too much staff turnover. Obvious lies told by management about why a member left to do other things when they were obviously sacked or pushed out. Favouritism amongst friends when promotions come around. This can lead to bewilderment by many of the staff when a low performer is promoted. Long hours. Not enough time is set aside by management in their target forecasts for staff to take private vacations. No overtime pay. Sometimes have pressure to work on weekends. Team bonus structure. English database is not correctly used my all staff due to lack of discipline or training which leads to a lack of information on many candidates if the person who used to cover your area didn't use it properly. Bad integration between the parent company's huge database and IGS's relatively small English database. Internal politics. Managers regularly suddenly going for private conversations in adjoining rooms which can create an uneasy atmosphere amongst staff. Senior management seemingly doing nothing all day and berating junior staff for not meeting targets creates annoyance amongst staff. Open floor office which makes it hard to concentrate and hear customers on the phone. Pointless client call sessions every few weeks even when some staff have no need for extra positions or need that time to do other parts of their job.
