Staffed by extremely technically proficient people who do not play office politics or do anything that distracts from the mission. Extremely collegial atmosphere.

Cons

The leadership has internal conflicts. They live in fear of their few donors and cant seem to stand up to them on even minor points.

Interesting work, ability to apply knowledge rather than paper-push, not toxic work environment, interesting people to work with.

Cons

The pay is uncompetitive and even low following years of no to maximum 2% pay rise. No opportunity for professional development, growth or promotion. All effort is placed on simply keeping the Institute open.
