Pros

Most people were nice, and friendly. Commute is also very accessible. Such a shame, given what's coming next.

Cons

There was a version of this review tHat was much longer and went Into so much Detail regArding the poor treatment of the employees by management, the belittlement, the racism, the sexism. I still haVe audio recordIngs and emails of management saying Disparaging things about women, minorities, or making inappropriate comments to employees about their looks, diet, and disabilities. Said accounts, recordings, chat logs, and emails, are compiled in a google doc which I'm still deciding what to do with because some of the stuff I've witnessed been done to others, and myself, is morally reprehensible. I know that IIL at large knows about the situation in Media as well since turnover is not only extremely high (Since 2021, 27 employees have come and gone from a department that usually staffs up to 8 people at a time) but also because one of those employees has reported these things to HR and the CEO. 3 Years later, the situation hasn't changed. The quality of the work is its own spectacular failure. Not only is it subpar compared to what people are making in 2025 (not companies. PEOPLE), but that's only WHEN it gets done. I remember one time we got a request from a different department to make a video that was due the following week. A year and a half later it still wasn't done (I left and I don't know if they ever finished it). There is so much razzle and dazzle in the media department, emphasizing awards and "prestige" because there's nothing below the surface. IIL Media is a den of lies. That's why management tries taking Glassdoor reviews down. That's why they say they're "not specific enough, so they're obviously not true." Glassdoor Terms of Service won't let us get that specific. Management can lie to the CEO, they can lie to the people they interview and hire, but eventually the truth always comes out and I have the hope that one day the full truth does come out. If you do still decide to work at IIL Media, here’s a survival tip: always fact check.

Pros

If you are related to management, good for you! You will get auto-hired with 0 experience and make 10x more than everyone else :))

Cons

IIL Hires young and inexperienced employee's under the guise of being a "learning experience'. Why they're really hiring you? To exploit and underpay educated/hard working professionals who have not yet learned their worth. All the time and energy placed into projects will be for not. The quality of projects, whether that be creative (video, copy, social media) or not (sales, accounting, etc.) will be totally is outdated, lackluster, and nothing to be proud of or add to your resume. This is due to the pompous and arrogant leadership that is openly agist towards younger generations, unwilling to learn new tricks of their trades in any department, fully half-assing their duties while putting down their inferiors. And yes, we are made to feel very inferior. your ideas will be shot down, belittled and made to seem as though you've insulted the wisdom of the elder leaders for not following "traditional" methods. Inappropriate emails are consistently sent to employees in regard to age, disability, sex, or other factors that are framed as "informational" One particular leader is openly sexist, racist, and ableist. All of which has been reported to "HR" and the CEO by multiple employees over many years with 0 consequences. "HR" being related to leadership by both blood and marriage... conflict of interest if you ask me. ex: media dept. buying new video camera's (top notch) yet using one's 10 years older bc management won't learn the new ones ex: NO social media strategy whatsoever (see for yourself @iilglobal) ex: NO real marketing campaigns or launches, just random tasks thrown at the wall ex: recycling of conference speakers bc nobody wants to be associated with IIL ex: 0 company culture of any kind - no celebrations for hard work at the launch of a conference or a new project by any department. ex: no commitment to employees. everyone is "freelance" or "contract" so they dont owe you benefits or pay raises. ex: website engagement and sales literally = 0 on most pages please save yourself the time and energy.
