Pros

There are SOME lovely people at the org. It's also in a great location. Other than that, this org doesn't have much going for it. Benefits were also good. Other pros, learning what you will NOT accept in a work environment.

Cons

IH claims to be an org of "innovation" but, I couldn't imagine a more antithetical word to describe it. For an organization that holds itself to be the leader in HUMAN RESOURCES for health, it sponsors little to no development for its own employees. We had plenty of tools and resources expertly developed to help field clinical staff but none of which were given the time or resources to be applied to our own staff. The employee development technique at HQ is "sink or swim". Throw as many tasks at the new person with no structure or support and see if they fail. If they fail, replace and exploit the next. From day 1 I was greeted by the utter misery of the current staff, who advised that the only way to move up was to "not say no to anyone". The senior management and executive board are completely out of touch and closed off to any and all suggestion. The only way to "survive" the chopping block in this organization is to pander to the antiquated and misguided executive team. Once you have ego-stroked your way to the top, there is also no guarantee you will be safe. Backstabbing can occur at any moment. This organization has no interest in doing good for humanity. Do not be fooled.

Pros

Small organization. You get to know most everyone who works there. Good people work at the organization. Good retirement plan and benefits. Good location.

Cons

IntraHealth is an organization in disarray. The President/CEO has been absent for years and does not provide leadership or management. He is disengaged in the work and demotivates staff, when he is around. He travels a lot, but no one sees any tangible results from the travel. In general, the organization lacks direction, vibrancy and energy. For most staff, it is a paycheck. The mood in the office is pretty low. It is a real shame because there are good people working in the organization. With better leadership and direction, the organization could thrive. Do not work here if you are a person of color. In the Program/MER team almost no person of color has remained beyond one year—except the African Directors. There are always ''performance issues.'' Those who work in operations lack opportunity to grow and develop as they are passed by for promotions. People of color are the first to be laid off. Women of color suffer in the organization. Management knows the problems but has taken no action. In general, there is little room for growth and development in IntraHealth. The culture is full of favoritism. Some staff have stayed way too long, do not pull their weight and management will not move these people out of the organization. The organization is top heavy with too many directors—many were given positions in exchange for a favor done for the President. At times, these have not been real jobs. One person was a director of a department with no staff for years. One year 25% of the staff got promotions in name only as they were considered a flight risk. Management did not understand the message sent to the remainder of the staff and there has been steady departures since. However, since a new HR head arrived, there has been improvement in this area.

Pros

Great mission, many kind hearted people, good salaries and benefits

Cons

CEO and VPs are very insular, have worked together for too long and have little to no outside experience beyond IntraHealth. CFO is newer but there are many problems with how he speaks to people and about people. Serious issues to be addressed.
