Declining Direction and Leadership Challenges

Pros

There are talented individual contributors across the organization who genuinely want the company to succeed. Compensation and flexibility are competitive compared to similar companies.

Cons

Leadership lacks the experience needed to effectively guide the organization through growth and market challenges. Many strategic and product decisions feel reactive rather than thoughtful, which has resulted in missed opportunities and confusion across teams. Recent leadership additions have added limited strategic value. Instead of providing vision or removing obstacles, much of the focus is on task delegation without clear ownership, accountability, or long-term direction. There is also a noticeable lack of alignment and communication from leadership, leaving teams uncertain about priorities, product strategy, and overall company goals. This creates inefficiency and frustration for employees trying to execute effectively.

Pros

The only things worth it are my team and remote benefits.

Cons

The mission and the direction that the company is heading are always confusing. I don't think leadership even knows what they want to do. I get it to an extent, you are a startup, but you've been around long enough to have some idea of the future at least. Every standup meeting, there's always a drastic shift. I don't even know what the goal is now, let alone what it will be later. The company should invest in consulting or in bringing in individuals with years of experience. The problem with having people in leadership positions who have little experience is that things end up more complicated, chaotic, and confusing. I understand wanting to give people the opportunity to grow, but when it comes to leadership positions, that requires at least a couple of years' experience. We have too many rookies running departments poorly. There isn't really any appreciation shown until someone leaves. Then it appears that directors and other individuals want to step in and ask how they can better support people. One thing that would be ideal is if you actually sat there and listened to the issues and did something about them. The company as a whole is losing talent, and I'll be another one to leave at this rate. Finally, this company is just downright exhausting. The burnout, frustration, and poor organization can get daunting. I go to work every day and sigh. While things could get better, it won't happen anytime soon. If you like to have headaches, frustration, and no support, by all means, apply. I am not coming from an angry place, but I am frustrated. Angry? Hardly. I have learned a lot from this company, and it is best that I use those skills and apply them to another company that is less of a disaster.

Amazing culture. Great work life balance. Can learn and grow and get an authentic startup experience without the burnout culture that other startups have.
