Pros

Mediocre benefits (standard for small company).

Cons

Low pay, disrespectful and ineffective management. Outrageous behavior by coworkers is ignored by management. No connection between rewards, pay, and quality of work. "Operations" is said by upper management in tones as if a dirty word. No potential for job growth. No investment in employee training, education, or development. Upper management is indifferent to the little people and does not understand their value or have any desire to work at keeping employees from quitting.

Pros

Many of the employees and owners, not all, were nice.

Cons

Low morale, insensitive and negative blaming work culture. HR is unhelpful and does not return calls. Owners treat employees unequally and inconsistently. Little emphasis on performance or quality. I was promised a raise I never received. I worked in an environment where I lived in fear of coworkers’ unprovoked temper tantrums and bullying with no hope of management help. I had nightmares that lasted even after I quit from the bullying. I worked at the company for many years, and I felt that the majority of owners had no interest in me and did not appreciate my work. I felt my opinions were not valued or listened to. I felt invisible and like I was often discounted or forgotten. Due to favoritism and inconsistent treatment, I was often confused by the owners’ decisions. It was made clear to me that I had extra job requirements for my existing job and for promotions that did not apply to anyone else at the company. If I asked about something, I might be told one thing and another person told the opposite. If I needed help, the attitude was that there was something wrong with me. If someone was having trouble doing their job, I would be called in unexpectedly and told to do it for them. One owner regularly engaged loudly in false office gossip with his door open. Sadly, multiple owners would stare at some of the female employees. I heard sexist comments from owners and one of the managers they hired.

Pros

A rare breed in the business world. Iron is a company built on values that really do put the customer first.

Cons

Perhaps there is some favoritism but that is inevitable in a smaller company that was built by a core group.
