Pros

IMR provides great opportunities to work with the most well-respected clients in the hospitality industry, not just in Chicago, but around the country. The company also has relationships with top media, both locally and nationally, opening the doors for employees to build the same relationships during their time at IMR. No matter what level you are at in your career, there is always opportunity to learn and grow. The owners respect the opinions of the employees and are always open to suggestions from the team on how to improve company procedures. There is always opportunity for advancement and if you work hard, you will be rewarded and recognized. The benefits are great, especially for a boutique agency, with generous paid holidays and PTO, 401K program with a 3% company match, profit sharing, and other rewards. The owners are trusting and flexible, allowing employees to work from home and are always understanding when it comes to family matters especially. They also support their team members and always have their backs.

Cons

The hours are long and go beyond the 9-5 workday so it is sometimes difficult to have a work-life balance, but that comes with working in PR and the hospitality industry specifically.

Pros

You get to work with interesting clients in the hospitality industry and meet worthwhile media contacts.

Cons

The owners' extreme micromanagement and their lack of trust in employees leads to a terrible and unhealthy work environment. They tout "work from home" as a bonus, but do that because you are expected to be working all the time. You will live with constant anxiety over the fear of getting a text, email or call from the male owner at any hour on any day of the week. He will belittle and humiliate you if you make a small mistake or do something differently than he would, because he is a control freak and a bad leader. I could go on forever about how terribly he treats his employees, but just read the other reviews. Take a look at the agency's constant turnover of employees and clients, which speaks for itself.
