Pay was comparable to other districts.

Pros

The students and community are great. Depending on your department there are great coaches and strategists who want to support you.

Cons

Toxic admin, school district, and school board who are driving the district into the ground. The district has been investigated by the state board because of the gross financial mismanagement. The work environment for teachers is hugely stressful, and admin will keep piling on. They will tell you how amazing you are and how much they appreciate everything you do and then assign you 3 extra tasks to do that are not in your contract. When you say no, you have a target on your back. Admin at most sites take their frustrations out on you. They have terrible communication from the district to the sites, and your concerns will go unanswered. Administration at the site and district level will actively ignore you if they don’t like what you have to say or don’t want to deal with you. Expect regular walkthroughs from admin, district, and the board with checklists of everything you’re doing wrong. They say walkthroughs are not evaluative. They’re lying. You will be judged on everything you do and say, and don’t ever expect to be evaluated fairly. Most admin lowball your scores so that the district doesn’t have to pay you your full performance pay. They’ve actively communicated they will never score teachers in the highest score in any category of the evaluations. The He have called it impossible to be considered “highly effective.” I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.
