Pros

To my fellow employees: I am still at this company because of you - I doubt I will ever get to work with a group of such awesome, passionate individuals. Our company environment is not what it used to be and I am saddened by that.

Cons

In my years at Istonish I have heard of and watched a revolving door of amazing, motivating, and experienced leadership individuals walk away from our company for one reason: the CEO. Sales, Operations, and Marketing have seen significant leadership turnover in the past 10 years. I always follow up with departed employees - even going back a decade or more they all point to a CEO who was, and is, unwilling to listen to reasonable advice based on objective data from experienced individuals. I can attest to their frustration - without the buffer of a robust leadership team we have all begun to interact much more closely with our CEO. She runs our company with fear and disrespect. She is quick to point fingers and blame others for the company’s situation but, ultimately, that responsibility lies with her. When warned about the risks of moving, or not moving, forward with certain initiatives she has ignored the advice from Istonish leaders (all with 10-20 years of experience in IT). Whether it deals with overall strategic direction, tactical data and statistics, or basic accounting we have been met with derision and distrust. Our company direction and strategy is also at the discretion of the CEO and her strategic model is built on opinions from outside consultants that don’t understand our business and act as yes-(wo)men to collect a paycheck. For the past year, I have watched our CEO completely disconnect from every member of our internal leadership team and hire a handful of sales and industry consultants that have produced no tangible results. We haven’t seen raises in two years but we have managed to afford three consultants (one industry, two sales) with no deliverables or changes in departmental or company direction. Overall we still lack a communicable strategy despite the efforts of our leadership team. I have watched our team spend several years pitching logical, well-planned strategies to our CEO - not only were they ignored but she presented roadblock after roadblock. On top of that, we continue to squander money pursuing “the next big thing” whilst ignoring the people who are the lifeblood of Istonish. The morale at our company is tangibly dark. We have been called lazy, incompetent, and subordinate. We have poured ourselves into a company that had a promising future. Now we are looking at a future with no promise. I hope our CEO realizes that the only thing keeping our company afloat is the people with in-depth tribal knowledge who, strangely, continue to attempt to save what we used to have.

As the CEO of Istonish, I value all feedback (good and bad) from current employees. It gives me an opportunity to understand what is working and to address things that are not working so well. I promote an open culture where people can be heard without fear of retaliation. I also do my best to address concerns as they arise. I encourage this person to set up time with me to discuss his/her concerns and look forward to truly understanding the challenges and identifying opportunities to address the issues and continue to live up to our core values and mission.

Pros

Some of the people. the CEO Annette was very sociable and interactive with her staff

Cons

There is very poor training, takes a very long time to get credentials, also the management in the service desk doesn't understand how overnight shifts work.

Thank you for this feedback. We're glad the people and culture left a positive impression, even if the experience overall fell short. The concerns about training and credentialing delays are fair — getting service desk technicians properly set up and supported from day one is critical, and we've worked to improve that process significantly over the years. We also hear the point about overnight shift management; that's a real operational consideration that deserves attention. We appreciate you sharing and wish you well.

Pros

There are so many things that I like about working at Istonish: 1. I really value the balance between guidance in what is expected of me in doing my job and the ability to innovate and add my expertise into the work I do for Istonish and our clients. 2. No one has ever stopped me in my tracks and said "We don't do it that way here" when I've proposed a new idea. There is always an openness to talk about new ideas, and sometimes I get the green light, sometimes it's back to the drawing board. I'm good with that because management took the time to listen to me. 3. I love the physical office environment. I think Isonish has created an amazing space to come to work everyday...and paid attention to designing an environment that promotes collaboration and working together...which is important to the work that we do. 4. Istonish creates an opportunity for you to grow and evolve your knowledge and skills. It does mean that you might feel stretched and pulled because you're doing your job and learning new stuff at the same time...but for me personally I love that opportunity to keep growing and have impact. 5. I have deep respect for the CEO and her leadership. I think she creates an environment of opportunity and holds people accountable for their roles and responsibilities. She asks really good questions...and I have often observed that she can see things before others can, and sometimes it's hard for people who have one point of view to be able to shift and consider that what she is saying is accurate. I have been in these conversations with her and I have always felt that she was respectful to my point of view and that her perspective helped me to consider other possibilities. I think that's really cool. 6. The last thing I will say that I really appreciate is the attitude of support for me beyond just being an employee. I appreciate their interest and understanding of the need for work life balance. There's a lot more that I like about working at Isonish...but I

Cons

Istonish is in a fast paced and continuously evolving business of technology. There is always something new coming at you and at times it feels like there is just not enough time. I think this is just a fact of working in the technology space and that it exists in every company who plays in this sandbox. Because Istonish is a smaller company I think it feels a more intense and demanding. Some might see this as a con...personally I see it as an opportunity. So I think it's just what you choose to make of it.

Thank you for taking the time to share this so thoughtfully. Reviews like this one remind us why we invest so much in building a culture where people feel heard, challenged, and supported. The point about the pace of technology being intense at a smaller company is well put — and we love that you see it as opportunity rather than obstacle. That mindset is exactly what makes a great team. We're grateful to have people like you with us.
