Pros

Great children to work with

Cons

Specifically to the Ivybrook Academy Winston-Salem location, AWFUL WORK ENVIRONMENT!! Owner of this location curses at staff members at staff meetings and talked to us like DIRT. Owner lied on multiple staff members and also allowed workplace bullying take place inside the building AND outside of the building. The owners proceeded to blame the victim of the bullying for expressing concerns to people higher up. The owners try to induce fear in their employees. They allow situations to get way out of hand when it comes to staff members as well as children. And if you happen to be a concerned parent ask the owners of the Winston-Salem location for proof that all teachers are CPR certified because I assure you they are NOT.

Pros

Amazing co teachers, amazing relationships formed.

Cons

Disgusting management. Absolutely toxic, manipulative and the bottom line is the kids are not what is of importance.

Pros

The families and their children are wonderful.

Cons

When I started, I was very passionate and excited to be here. I was told that my ideas were welcomed, it is an inclusive school, and the admin was proud of the staff they hired because it was a great group of people! A few months later, things began to go downhill. A teacher quit, and an admin said to other staff, "Good, she was the cancer of the school." Two more teachers left in the winter, and the happy mask the admin wore was cracking, frequently the owners yelled at one another in front of staff and sometimes children. During one staff meeting, all staff were yelled at and cursed at for "taking food out of their child's mouth," while they bragged about their new car, new and bigger house, and remodels being done on the new house. Four more left in the month of March because it was continuing to be a blame game instead of taking responsibility. There was bullying, lies, and gaslighting.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear that what began as a positive and inspiring start turned into something that left you feeling disheartened. The concerns you’ve raised are deeply troubling and not reflective of the environment we strive to create at Ivybrook Academy. At Ivybrook, we are committed to fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and professionalism. It’s upsetting to hear that your experience was marked by behavior and dynamics that go against those values. While leadership is not immune to challenges, our responsibility is to handle those moments with care, transparency, and accountability — especially in front of staff and children. We are actively working to reflect, grow, and ensure that all team members feel safe, supported, and heard. Your feedback is a powerful reminder of how important that work is. We sincerely appreciate your time at Ivybrook and wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
