Pros

A handful of supervisors are genuinely skilled and can learn the ropes of professional work.

Cons

Unethical to start of with. The attrition rate is the highest. People are let go in the name of lay- offs and immediately a bunch of new people are hired. Average time spent at work from hire to terminating them is only a few months. This is from the top management to the intern level. People spend more time gossiping and speaking about each other. No ethics or code of conduct, run like a family business. Nothing to learn, other than survival instincts from people who have learnt the tricks of the trade by mooching, playing politics well. Save your self and join a better company where you can grow.

Avoid this pseudo architecture firm.

Pros

It's a job. There isn't a lot of "pros" about JCJ. I did enjoy working with my peers, great people with good hearts, all worried about hanging on to their jobs.

Cons

Avoid this firm unless you are absolutely desperate for a job. They are nothing more than a commodity service business run by non-architects. $$$ drive every decision. They fail horribly in trying to be a national firm and do not have the savvy or understanding of how to successfully practice as a multi-office architecture firm. Everything revolves the corporate office in Hartford. They call themselves an ESOP, but it is really Peter Stevens’ company (he is not an architect or even a designer). JCJ is just part of the alphabet soup of companies posing as architecture design firms. And don’t let them fool you about being an employee/owner. Ownership means nothing, the stock value is practically zero, you have no say in business decisions and the door you entered through is a big revolving door. You will probably be kicked out the door as soon as they are done with you. They have a high turn-over rate. Just remember you were warned!
