Pros

This is like the tenth time I am trying to do this. They are overly worried about what other people are doing. And not in a good way. They don’t seem to care what time you get there or what time you get back. Yet they do want to make sure everything is PERFECT at all times, except they don’t communicate that to anyone on how or why something should be done or if something has changed. No one needs to clean up after themselves because they just make someone else do it. They don’t show you or tell you that you are appreciated or of any value there. They like to hire arrogant pricks that think they are so much better then everyone else and maybe that’s the attitude that lead to over a 70% turnover rate, just in the corporate office, they will tell you the properties have a high turnover rate but not the corporate office. This has about 15 of those pricks I just mentioned. Oh and this company by the way has like 160 employees, 20 of which work in the corporate office, not 300 like the ad says. You do get medical benefits after your first month there, but early termination around day 89 of the 90.

Cons

See above. No one knows what is really going on with anything except for the investor stuff. The investor information you get a monthly notification on. Things change, almost on a daily basis yet only one person will know and just won’t think to tell anyone else, or send out a general email. There is a saying at JCM, I don’t know, I just work here. And even that is half-assed. Most of the people spend a HUGE portion of their day chit-chatting with others. Who knew old people had so much TV in common? They don’t realize they graduated HIGH SCHOOL, most of them more the 14 years ago! GROW UP.

Pros

Definite career opportunities. Corporate - good if you're willing to take on every project as your only project (no matter how many projects you have) and wear at least two hats. The company values loyalty and hard work. Very good health benefits. Fair pay for the market and industry. Very much a working family. Nice area to work in. HR team is amazing and supportive. Half of management has been with this company since the 1980's and early 90's - this is both a pro and con.

Cons

Do not expect perks like most modern bay area companies. If you need flexible hours, snacks, and all the "ideal millenial/tech industry perks" etc this is not for you. This place is bare bones on the employee appreciation side if you work at Corporate - Coffee and filtered water are the big deal items here. On-site Leasing agents and property management get employee appreciation and incentives like it's raining candy from heaven every quarter. Not a realistic understanding of peoples jobs or their time. If you're not part of the Property Management executive team, don't expect to be given respect. If you work in corporate, don' expect any perks or support. Always be willing to handle the roles of two people. This company is very good at property acquisition and renovation, but not good at keeping staff or hiring to support growth. They run their corporate office staff into the ground and still don't understand why people leave burtn out and angry. And they don't address issues to correct that for the next person. They'll tell you they belive in work life balance and anyone who does not have a management title is hourly - which is great, until you realize you need to work overtime to get anything actually accomplished in their time frame and then be willing to be told no overtime followed by why isn't x or y done?
